something new ovarian cysts

Hello Sisters,
I would like to have a little advice. I had my TVH on 7/7/05 and kept my ovaries.
My surgery was uneventful other than a post op bladder infection from the cath.
My two week check up, they found an infection that had to be treated with anti biotics. Had to return the following week for a check up. They said all signs of the infection were gone, that my healing process was slow and that I now have two cysts (one on each ovary) that are approx. 3.5 cm.
My GYN has been on vacation will be returning tomorrow so I will be calling first thing in the am.
Was wondering if anyone has had any experience with this. What are my possible options.
Thanks in advance. Monica

Hi, Monica!

I'm sorry that you have cysts to deal with now. It's good that you will be calling your doctor.

While you are recovering from your hysterectomy you can read the information in these links to the Checkpoints and the Post-Op Articles. They will help answer questions you are likely to have.

Hopefully someone will be along soon to share their experiences with ovarian cysts.

Hi Monica,
Welcome to Hystersisters. I know it's hard to know where to post sometimes. I moved you over to post op. This is where you will want to post any questions you have about your recovery.
I know there are ladies out there who have and are dealing with cysts. I hope you will hear from some of them soon. You could also do a search on ovarian cysts. I know they are discussed a lot and there are threads on the subject that might help answer some of your questions. I think it's always a good idea to read up and get some information about what you're facing before you talk to your dr. I hope you find what you need.

's, Rita

Hi Monica

I've not had the post-op ovarian cysts (well, because they took my ovaries ), but I had many of these prior to this surgery! (And my pathology report showed many cysts on one of my ovaries and in my tubes as well).

Oftentimes these cysts are nothing to worry about, and the dr watches them for a couple of months to see if they resolve themselves. Here's a good link at the Mayo Clinic that describes ovarian cysts:
There are tests which can determine if these are "simple/functional" cysts or "complex" cysts.
An ultrasound can provide good information to the dr about what type of cyst you have.
