cin3 that won't quit..any cin3 folks here?

Hello,
I've had 2 leeps and a cold knife procedure. I'm due for my pap in a week or so.
After my leeps- the results were clear margins and after the cold knife thing as well.
At my last post op check the doc said that it (cin3) is probably not recurring but wasn't removed ever as it is on the neck of my cervix. I will have a hyst if my pap comes back positive and I'm prepared but I'm wondering if anyone here has had a similar experience.
Thanks and good thoughts to all,
Helen in NY

Helen again

I should add that I had to have a myomectomy to have these leeps and such because of very large fibroids being in the way.
I love my doc but am wondering if I should see a gyn/onc again. I had in the past.

s helenali and to the Cancer Concerns Forum

I'm not real familiar with your type of condition, but there are many ladies on this board who are. They should be along soon to help.

I do want to encourage you to seek treatment/opinion thru a gyn/onc. They are the best for treating these types of conditions.

Please keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you Lori,
I feel a bit alone in the world now. The gyn/onc I saw wants my ovaries and I'm not giving them up but I will have to make a decision and hope someone out there will share their experience.

(((Helen)))

I had a long history of abnormal PAP's starting in 1986 and ending in 2000 when we decided to do the hysterectomy. It was extremely frustrating during that time to continue to have these abnormal cells disrupt my life. I had a cone, 2 cryo's and a LEEP. It made sense to have the TAH--I had so much scar tissue from the previous procedures that they just couldn't get accurate reads from my PAP any longer.

I kept my ovaries (I was 37) and they are still working great almost 5 years later!

If you have questions about your situation, then absolutely seek the advice of a gynecologic oncologist. They are the experts when it comes to female cancers and precancers and they are trained extensively in the most current surgical and treatment techniques.

Good luck! Please keep us posted!

I have colon cancer so my situations are different than everyone here. I had to have a TAH because of it and I lurk here as a result. I hope y'all don't mind - it's a comfort zone thing for me....

anyway, being that there's cancer involved, I'll never see anyone BUT my gyn/onc... I call my reg's only for things like UTI's.

Flutterbys, I hope you are doing well. You have my best wishes.

I cancelleds 2 hysts with the gyn/onc in the past and I hope he won't hold it against me.
Does anyone know if you switch docs if the old doc doesn't have to see you any more?

but if you switch, why would you want to see the old one? you're going to someone else for some reason...

my gyn/onc is in chicago so it's not a quick trip. but he's one of the best in the country... so is my GI surgeon.... and they recommended my oncologist who's also there. I'm going to chicago constantly.

oh and thanks for the well-wishes Helen!! Like I said this board has become comfortable for me so I'm gonna stick around.

The ex doc (onc) only would do a hyst for me. I thought I should keep my parts and hoped that leeps would ger rid of the cin3 and I'd be fine so I went to another really good gyn..had a myomectomy so I could have the leeps.
I did not expect to still be dealing with this 3-yrs later. I think my current doc would think I'd be silly to switch doctors. He doesn't think cin3 is a big deal.

Helen,
Sounds to me like you are not sure you want the whole procedure your doctor is proposing. A second opinion would be in order and to help you make an informed decision. Why not have a gyn/onc for the second opinion. You could even see a different gyn/onc for this if you want. Your current doctor should not be afraid of your getting another opinion. It is you and your body that will be going through this and you need to decide who will do it and what the procedure will be getting the best medical advice to make that decision.
