Dr. appt. today

Good Morning,
I am 10 days post-op and I have a dr. appt. today. I'm not sure what to expect, any poking and prodding going on for this appt?
Also, I tried to sleep in bed again last night, I just couldn't get comfy, back to the couch. How long before you were able to sleep in bed?
Another question - During surgery the doc put a patch on and said it would last until my dr. appt. I'm thinking it didn't last long enough. I was really crabby and weepy yesterday. You know how that is when you can't even stand to be around yourself?
Thanks for any info you can share!

1302 , I had a one week check-up and dr did a vaginal and a rectal exam . It's a good thing you are going in that patch does not sound normal. Be sure to write down all your questions as you may forget them from the ride there!! good luck.

Hi 1302,
Every dr is different in what they do at these early appointments. Mine did a pelvic exam. I wasn't too thrilled at that, but he didn't hurt me. I think many of them do. They want to make sure everything is healing ok and whatever else they look for
Tell him about what happened with your patch not lasting so he can make some adjustments to your dosage. It isn't unusual to have to do some trial and error to find what is just right for you.
You might want to think about what you want to ask him about any activities you're wondering about doing or not doing, what to expect, and of course anything about how you feel.
I hope it goes well. Let us know what happens.

's, Rita

At my two week checkup my doc did a pelvic and a rectal exam. I thought he was just going to check my incision. Boy, was I wrong! I was having a lot of discomfort so that is probably why he did the pelvic. I think most docs at the 2 week mark just check the incision. But, I could be wrong. Happy Recovery!

I had a three week check up and he did an internal. He was checking the posterior stitches and then quickly slid the speculum in place. That's what I was most afraid of. Didn't hurt one bit. After that he pressed arount a bit. It wasn't bad at all.

My 2 week appt was a breeze. The nurse chcked my vitals, BP & temp. The doctor asked how I was feeling. I said "GREAT!". He answered a few questions I had and that was it. I didn't even have to get undressed. It think if my responses hadn't been great or I had complaints about pain and such, he would have examined. As it was he gave me my 4 week go back to work slip then and said if I wasn't feeling good at 4 wks just to tear up the return to work slip and he would write me another one. He did examine me briefly at my 5 wk check up.

I think each dr. is different and will do different things depending on how you are feeling.

Write down a list of questions. I didn't do that for my 2 wk but did for my 5 week and it made a great difference. I didn't forget to ask anything that time.

Just returned from the doctor. It went great. No poking and prodding at all this time. Said everything was looking great and to continue to rest at home. I now have a prescription for a patch, said we would reevaluate things in three weeks and to call if I need anything. Hubby and I went out for lunch and I now feel a nap coming on.
Have a great afternoon!
