went to DR. for hematoma!

I also had (or I should say have) a hematoma (17 cm. x 9 cm.) along my incision. It has now been drained 2 times in a month and a half. Now they are looking at a surgical answer, but the docs are disagreeing on what course to take. Two of them say they can do a small incision, vacuum everything out, and repair whatever is still bleeding, and the other doc says I have to start all over with a hip-to-hip incision. Ack.... I hate to think about it.

Mine is all "internal" and the blood and blood products are sitting in a nicely segmented sac (it looks like a tortise shell by ultrasound). Docs liken it to a sponge.

Because of the risk of infection, docs really do prefer to have hematomas drain (or otherwise resolve) on their own. The fact that mine keeps filling up is rather odd -- and very painful.

I hope you get resolution soon for your problem. It must be very frightening to be bleeding like that.

went to DR. for hematoma!

mjd,
I had a hematoma on my labia extending to my anus. They had put a drain in it but it coninued to grow. And the pain was hurendious! It sounds like yours obviously still has bleeders in it if it keeps filling! Thats what mine was doing. She ended up re- opening it and carterizing the bleeders. I don't understand why they would let it continue to bleed? Did they explain that to you?...Netty
