Can you tell me?

So Monday was 2 weeks from my last surgery. I have been pretty good on keeping up with the meds, getting lots of rest and not over doing it. So my question is when will I know if the surgery was a success or not? How will I know if the pain is still from post op or I still have the pain I did before surgery?

I figure it might take longer to heal from this surgery since my body has gone through so much and this is my 2nd surgery this year but I just don't know long the post op pain should last.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks!

Can you tell me?

Ruby,
I don't think anyone can tell you when you will know. It maybe something that just happens. We are all different, we each heal at different rates and we each may have different problems.

I do hope you will know soon that you are healing and will be feeling much better.

Can you tell me?

(((Ruby)))I agree: we can't tell you when you will know or even how you will know, since we're all so different. However, I think you will know when it's not recovery pain: it may be a "new" pain that you're feeling or one that is more intense or is different, is accompanied with symptoms signalling something else, or it could just be something that doesn't feel right.

When that happens, it's time to consult your doctor, just to be on the safe side.

Can you tell me?

Hi Ruby,

You're right, it's your second surgery and you've gone through so much. Seems to me that you'd still have post surgery pain at this time...had to cut out those adhesions the endo and that nerve!! Each day should be getting a bit better if it's surgery pain. You didn't get to feel that healing process after the first surgery.
How's your bladder doing? You hang in there!

Kim, Dany, Gynie, Maralyn

Thank-you all so much. After all this time it is all just so hard...trying to be positive, business being shut down for another six weeks this year, prescriptions are so expensive even with insurance, bills..any money I may have had is now completely gone and I still have 4 weeks off. Trying to do almost nothing so that I can completely heal.

Sorry, it's just been one of those "down" days. I do have to say that for the most part I am not hurting as bad as it was before the surgery...but there still is pain. Bladder is still not normal but all things considered it's something I can deal with.

I have an appt with my dr next Thurs, so we'll see what she has to say. I just want it to be over with.

Best to all of you!

Can you tell me?

i know how you feel i'm 3 weeks post-op from a cyctocele and rectoclele repair... everyday is better, but like you i have had a heck of a 1year 1/2 hyst, repair, and repair again... i think our bodies are just like WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON??? what type of surgery did you have? i know if i "over do it" i feel it the next day.. i went to get my hair done yesterday and WOW im in trouble today.. hurts really bad.. so i'm going to be a good girl and lay down.. i know these 3 weeks have been long, but i know it will be over soon and i cherish those GOOD days... we'll be ok and maybe we were on the "off ramp of this long road"
hand in there and take care!

I do know how you feel. I had five additional surgeries after my hyst, each one took me longer to recover from. I have learned to try and have patience and not rush my recovery. However, don't hesitate to call the doctor if ever you feel that something is not the way it should be or if you have any questions.
