have a ? about bladder spasms

Hi ladies...let me first start off by saying how sorry I am that so many of you are having such painful and awful problems and I truly hope that a light comes from above to heal all of you.

I'm just over 2 weeks from my 2nd surgery to find answers to why I have had so much pain since my hyst. The day after my surgery I had extremely painful bladder spasms...thank goodness the kept me in the castle over night. After having a catheter put in and out several times at the castle (and them keeping me another nite) they had to send me home with a foley catheter which was just taken out a week ago Tues. She sent me home with Detrol & an antibiotic. Sometimes I am able to go pee with no problems and it seems I completely void other times I have a hard time starting and it's a weird feeling before I start...not painful, but not good feeling either. Other times I have to push to start...I know, I read your posts which said not to push but I can't go unless I do. And then sometimes at the end I get this burning feeling, it doesn't last long but it feels like someone puts a match right at the end of my ureter. During the course of one day I can go through all of these different problems. Is this normal? Is it something that will go away with time? I have never had bladder/urinating problems before.

I know what I am going through is so minor compared with what you ladies are going through...but that's also why you are the experts and the perfect ones to ask.

Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

RubyStar,
Did you mean ureter or urethra? As far as the "burning" sensation at the end of the flow it could be urethra spasms, thats what it feel like to me?
I really think this is something you should mention to your Doctor. They do have other meds. you can try. Maybe flomax? Do you feel as though your retaining? If so I would also mention that to the Doctor and at least get your residules checked! Let us know what you find out! I wish you the best!! Take Care....Netty

RubyStar,
I would ask your doctor if you can take AZO for the burning - AZO takes the acidity out of your urine - thus some of the burning sensation will go away. Good Luck!
