1yr post-op and getting shot to numb ligaments
Hi all. I am 1 yr post-op and things haven't gone great. My endo has come back along with cysts on my ovaries. My doc doesn't want to remove my ovaries because I'm 31yrs old, nor would I let him! He removed the endo in June but the pain didn't stop so he did an ultrasound last week that showed a couple of cysts on my ovaries. I'm sick of being in pain so he wants me to come in today and get a shot via the vagina to numb my ligaments. Has anyone heard of this? I'm very nervous and thinking of canceling my appointment.

Jennifer,
Just wondering how long after your hyst that the endo came back? I see you're a year post-op.
Hope you feel better.

1yr post-op and getting shot to numb ligaments
It was 8 months from the surgery that the pain started up again. The doctor that did my hyst never talked to me about endo, she only focused on adeno so I had no idea that the endo could be a problem after the surgery. She acted irritated when I went back to her in pain. I ended up firing her and getting a new doctor who seems to really know his stuff. He removed the endo in June but made it clear that as long as I have my ovaries the endo can and probably will keep coming back. He said it could come back in as little as a month, but usually you are good for longer.

I'm sorry to hear you have endo. I believe thats an ongoing problem. I have several family members with it. It worries me to read that you're having more surgeries because I've learned that with each surgery a person has you will develop adhesions which seems to me to also contribute to your problem. I dont know if many people are aware of this. I hope things work out well for you with the shot.
Good luck with the shot!

I talked to the nerse at my doctors office and the shot I'm supposed to get is called uterosacral nerve injection. I said I would call back to reschedule if and when I'm more informed on this procedure. If anyone out there has heard of this or had this done, please let me know your oppinion on it. Thanks

Jennifer:
Good for you! Now, I hope your doctor gets your message and calls you back with further info. If not, think of scheduling an appointment to talk thru it first. I imagine you have concerns about what all might be numbed in this procedure and how long you can expect pain relief.
Keep us posted.
