Update - Hernia Repair surgery

Hi all, my hernia repair surgery was on Wednesday 09/07/05, my gyn/onc repaired the hernia and also looked around and did an abdomenal wash and all is well no signs of cancer. He actually recut the top part of my incisionand even extended it it about an inch on the part above my belly button. My hyst incision ran from 1 inch above my belly button, around it and down to my pelvic bone. I saw him today, Monday and will go back on Thursday to have the staples removed. The incision this time is about 4 inches long. I went home the same day and maybe because last time I was in the hospital on morphine for 3 days and this time I went home the same day I feel like I had more pain this time. I am still taking vicadin and now the pain is less. I am using my swelly belly band and it is helping! I am being extra careful not to lift or strain so this doesnt happen again! He explained how the hernia was actually quite large and extended up abbove the belly button and that the muscle wasnt actually torn just "real stretched out" like old eleastic so her gathered it up and sewed it together. I have to be honest i am not thrilled to be dealing with recovery from abdomenal surgery agian but at least this time i dont have to do it along with having to start chemo like I did after my hyst. Thanks for all your well wishes.

Glad to hear the surgery went well. Now you know you must take it easy. I am happy for you in that he did not find any cancer! It is so wonderful know that.

Once you are up to it : or do some shopping therapy. In the meantime, chocolate is real nice.

Sit down, lie back, relax, and let that heal really well. Court TV is usually good in the daytime, and there's always Judge Judy. I'm glad all went well.

I'm so glad that your surgery is over and now you can rest and recover. It must make you feel so much better just knowing that no sign of cancer was found.

Take extra good care of yourself and breathe a sigh of relief that no more treatment is necessary.

Oh dear - of course you are tired of it! I am very sorry you have to go thru this again. Once would be more than enough for anyone.

I hope this surgery will be a quicker recovery than the last. My thoughts are with you!
