Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

I have been reading alot of different things concerning all of my many problems I am having right now and this one problem MAY just fit.

I have my appt the 27th to see the surgeon and will definetly be talking it over with her, but was wondering if anyone has had this happen a year or more after their hysterectomy and what the symptoms were?

Thanks for the help as I am jumping from forum to forum with my problems right now!!!

HUGS and Prayers to all!!!

Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

Oh, Pam! Just wanted to send a and say "I hope not!" I have read here somewhere that the normal exam position might not be helpful to detect a prolapse. I hope your appointment goes well. Keep us posted.

Thanks Michelle!!

I have no idea what a vault prolapse would feel like, but I do have all of the symptoms I read about on one site.

Frequescy, urgency, nocturia, painful intercourse and I also have other symptoms that could also be part of it.

It would sure be an EASY fix if it is in fact a vault prolapse OR just adhesions. BUT adhesions come back in me expecially since my greater omentum is longer than normal and just lays there in my pelvic floor waiting to adhere to something.

Hopefully someone with a vault prolapse will chime in soon and help me out!!

THanks again!!

Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

Hi Pam 01!!

I would like to explain to you what my uro/gyn explained to me. A vaginal vault prolapse is common in women who have hysters when the doctor did not attach it to a ligament (my FORMER gyn did not). In turn, a vaginal vault prolapse almost always is accompanied by an enterocele (small bowel prolapse). The classic symptoms are what you described. My uro/gyn did all of my repairs at one time and I have to say that I have never felt better in my life! Definately have your doctor check it out....is she a uro/gyn? They are truly the best ones to handle these prolapses. Take care and let us know how you make out!

Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

Pam,
I'm sorry to hear you're still dealing with so many problems. I wouldn't try to self diagnose, call the doctor and have yourself checked out. Just because you have xyz symptom that is listed on an internet site doesn't mean that is what you're dealing with. I think sometimes we can work ourselves into a frenzy and do too much reading and *guessing*. Please call the doctor.

Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

Yes, I had a vaginal vault prolapse after my hyst in 2001. Things just began to fall more and more until it was a stage 3 prolapse. There was no guessing about it. It could be seen and felt. A large protrusion out of the vagina. It does happen sometimes after a hyst.

Vaginal Vault Prolapse?

I also had a prolapse 6 weeks after my hyst. It was very painful. After reading on the internet It seems it is more common than I thought it was.

prolapse

I had to have vaginal vault suspension, I had an enterocele repair. Took 2 years for anyone to diagnoise
it, and two surgeries. At least you know what you have
now. I am not going to get on my soap box about these
Dr.s not taking care of this when they do these hysts,
because everyone on this site has had to endure my
whining too many times. But I had a pelvic floor specialist to fix my enterocele, and would have thought
he would do a complete reconstruction, but no, now I
am having problems in the rectal area, lots of pain and
pressure, so here I go again. Anyway my advice to you,
and please hear me, research thoroughly a good Uro/Gyn to do you repairs, because if you don't get this
done right, you may be in for a lot more misery, especially since you have additional problems with adhesions. Don't be afraid to hurt anyone's feelings
about who's going to do your surgery, because you will
be the one to pay the price in the long run, this is very
important, and there are no promises even with a good
Dr.. Find the latest procedures available. I have heard
they are using something called the Prolift, which I don't
know much about it, but I think it is some kind of support system to hold things up. But they will probably
attach your vagina to the ligaments. I am still researching it myself. There is a Dr. Miklos who has an
interesting site, is www.tvtsling.com or another really
good place to look at is pelvicfloor.com. Good luck.
