Going back to work

Hi Everyone...

I am scheduled for a TAH Sept 22 (only 4 days to go!!) I am 30 years old. My question is this: My doc recommended 6 weeks off of work, and that's what I have taken. Thing is, I am a Registered Massage Therapist in a BUSY spa and think maybe that's not enough recovery time for such a physically demanding job? I appreciate any advice.....

Going back to work

I'm at 4 1/2 weeks at today is my first day back....but....my job is NOT physical and I am able to leave when I need to. Personally, I would suggest 8 weeks for a physical type job.

I agree. My job is not at all physically demanding (I do medical transcription from home). I went back to work at about 5 weeks and was only able to do about 2-3 hours of work a day and then I would be completely exhausted. Talk to your doc about this. Most of them are good about extending your leave if you need it.

Good Luck!!!!!!

Going back to work

I went back to a very physically demanding job at 8 weeks, and I could not do it, it was to much for me, although my job consisted of alot of lifting, over 100 lbs, many times a day.... I quit and moved on

Going back to work

Hi Everyone....

Thanks so much for sharing all your experiences.... I think I will be further discussing it with my doc and have her extend it to 8 weeks and then see how well I heal from there. Thankfully, I have a VERY understanding female employer

Only 2 days to go (whoo hoo!) Can't believe 'Aunt Flo' decided to come by for one last horrendous visit today (! week early!!) Will have to leave the miserable cow on the operating room table!!!! lol

Then first thing my dr asked me was what kind of job I had, because that was going to determine how long I would be off. My job varies from sedetary to very phyical. So he said "ok" 8 weeks.
