Must Read books for women?

I'm compiling a list of "must read" books for women considered to be classics:

Nope, the theme doesn't have to be "women" but I'd like the books to be motivational to women somehow and oldies/goodies as classics.

Please add as you have a "Must Read"

Thanks!

I'll start the list:

To Kill a Mockingbird
True Women
Follow the River
Little Women
Joy Luck Club
#1 Ladies Detective Agency
A Woman of Independent Means

Must Read books for women?

The Invitation - Oriah Mountain Dreamer. Quote from the front of the book..."It doesn't interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart's longing. It doesn't interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive..." The Invitation is an invaluable guide to living the ecstasy of everyday life, learning to recognize true beauty in ourselves and the world, and finding the sustenance our spirit longs for.

This book is a MUST read for anyone longing for more passion and honesty.

Must Read books for women?

Lorna Landvik's "Angry Housewives Eating Bon-Bons" or "After Anne" by Roxanne Henke

Both are tear-jerkers but celebrate the bonds only women can create, as not many books have.

MUST READS FOR SURE

I do think "Pride and Predjudice" is worth a read, but not an easy read for all...

Must Read books for women?

Anything by Jo-Ann Mapson. She writes about the contemporary West and its women. Her women are strong (and strong-willed) and survivors. Her books celebrate hope, survival, and sisterhood.

Martha Quest by Doris Lessing. One of the few novels I have been unable to put down.
