pain relief??

hi and thank you to everyone for the support, it was really nice to see a get well card from the site.
well I am recovering of sorts, I had a vaginal hysterectomy on the 19th sept 1005, then I developed a blood clot and was back in theatre on the 23rd. I came home on the 27th after having a drain in to collect the rest of whatever caused the clot. Thing is, I came home with 6 voltaren tabs(which did no good at all) I then on wednsday went to my GP and explained that I am in alot of pain, he gave me 30 caps of co-codamol. It is now saturday and I have 1 cap left. The doc said that if I still feel bad then I should go back to the hospital and get pain releif from them, I think I may well just do that tommorow.
I am just wondering what pain releif everyone else is taking??

pain relief??

Hi mrsrose -

I'm sorry that your having a difficult time & still in alot of pain. I was in alot of pain too & the only thing that helped me was percocet. While in the hospital the morphine drip did NOTHING for me. They kept having to up the dose. Finally, after I started hyperventilating, they gave me a shot of something in my bum & that helped for a short while...but my pain wasn't under control until 24 hours after surgery when they finally decided to remove the morphine drip & started me on percocet. That worked sooooooooo much better!

My doc sent me home from the castle with a prescription for 30 pills & when those were gone he wrote me another prescription for 30 more pills. I only had to take a few of the second prescription & am now just taking ibuprofen.

I'm sorry that your doc is giving you a hard time about pain meds. It makes me want to slap him silly for you. I'd like to rip some of his sex parts out & then see how he feels. I'm a thinking that maybe he'd be a little more sympathetic towards you & write you another dam prescription!

Big to you & I truly hope that you get feeling better!!

pain relief??

How did you knkow that you developed a blod clot? I also had a TAVH on Sept. 19th, and was feeling quite well until I think I have over exerted myself with sorting thru things like paperwork etc. here at home. For the last two days I have had upper backaches and now I am spotting. I was not having any of these symptoms when I came home from the hospital. I am experiencing more of a discomfort than anything else. I guess I will call the doc on Monday if I can't get this to subside by then. Take Care!
