Pessary

I have been diagnosed with a grade 3 - 4 rectocele, grade 3 cystouretrocele and grade 2 enterocele. I am seeing a urogynecologist who recommended trying a pessary as a first step, in lieu of having the repair surgeries done at this time. Sounds good to me since I'm not crazy about the idea of surgery, but I am really in a lot of discomfort so I am torn between sugery and the pessary. Does anyone have personal experience with use of a pessary? Does it really work? Is it uncomfortable to use? Thanks in advance for your replies.

Pessary

I don't have any experience with a pessary, but I don't see how it could hurt to try it to see if you might get some relief. Why did the urogyn recommend it in lieu of surgery?

Best wishes.

Pessary

I used a Gehrung type pessary for 6 months before I had my surgery for the same conditions that you are experiencing. This type of pessary does not need to be removed for sexual activity. I went into my DR every 6-8 weeks and had him remove it, clean it and reinsert.
I had no problems with it , did not even know it was there.

Pessary

Hi!

I tried using the pessary - tried 2 different sizes (the donut ring type) - to quote my doctor to my husband "they didn't work-she kept spitting them out"...I love my doctor!! Give them a try, it might work for you!
