New, scared & waiting for biopsy results

Hi I'm new to this board and very scared. I had a D & C last Thursday and have an appointment with my Dr. tomorrow to get the results. I'm 30 years old, single with no kids. I went in for my annual exam and because I have been having horrible periods - 7 days & very heavy. Had an ultrasound both abdominal & vaginal. The results of the ultrasound indicated fibroids & possibly hyperplasia as the endometrial lining was quite thick. I am very anxious to get the results, I have a very bad feeling that there was cancer. My Mom had stage I uterine cancer at 28. I kinda feel like I want them to find cancer so I can get it over with and get on with my life. Has anyone else felt like this? Also there seems to be a lot of info about doing everything possible to keep your uterus (assuming you don't have cancer) I am sort of hoping that my Dr reccomends hysterectomy. I have never really wanted kids & never thought I would ever have them so it seems to me my life would be so much easier with out having to deal with PMS, pads & tampons & birth control not to mention the looming possibility of cancer. Anyone else felt this way?

New, scared & waiting for biopsy results

I never had the strong connection with my uterus that some of the Sisters do/did. Like you, I never thought about having children, either. When I was in my child-bearing years, I was busy being a career woman, and just didn't meet any man whose children I wanted to bear! Had my hyster at 46 due to endometrial cancer and was just darn glad there was something to do about it - had no qualms about losing my plumbing - and don't miss it at all. When your doctors have more information, weigh it and consider all your options. You'll make the right decision for you. Hang in there. The waiting is the hardest part...

New, scared & waiting for biopsy results

Hi Dina:

I'm another sister that doesn't miss my reproductive parts. I'm 42, and I always knew I didn't want children. I certainly did not want cancer, but it was always in the back of my mind that I might get it. My mother was 32 when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.

I will also admit that I enjoy not having a period anymore and the money I've saved not having to purchase feminine hygiene products!

I hope you get good results. The waiting is one of the hardest parts. Please keep us posted.
