1 year of pain - intervention?

I need feedback on what my doc did (or didn't do). I had an ablation 10/04, but my uterus was punctured & I was in pain, so I opted for a hysterectomy 11/04. After 6 months, I saw the doc, told her I was still in alot of pain, took several naps a day & couldn't lift anything, sit in a regular chair or clean house without more pain later. I asked about adhesions. She blew me off & said it could take a year to heal. 8 months later, I called her & she said I needed a catscan, which $1,200 later, showed nothing. She said she had no idea what it could be & that she never heard of this before. Finally, I told her to do a laporoscopy & see if there were adhesions. She said she'd be on vacation & I could see her partner. The 2nd doctor said she had, in fact, seen this alot & had done lots of laps. (And that catscans don't show adhesions, which is what I thought I had.) In less than 1 hour, she found 5" of adhesions from the site where the uterus was to the intestines.

When I asked if the hospital could help with the cost (not to mention this should have been done 6 months ago) they said the pain I've had had nothing to do with the hysterectomy. (That was before I had the lap.)
I haven't had a life for 1 year being in pain & crying alot and missing out on life with my 4 kids, not being able to go to church etc.) I don't think asking the hospital to help pay for it would do a thing.

1 year of pain - intervention?

HI! I am sorry you are having to deal with this! I think my Dr. and your Dr. must have gone to the same medical school....I think it's called "THE PAIN IS ALL IN YOUR HEAD MEDICAL INSTITUTION". Seriously my Dr. blew me off when I mentioned pain also, said it was physicological. I got a second opinion and my new Dr. found granulation and is looking into a possible trapped nerve. I am glad her partner looked into it though, and I would suggest you continue to see the partner for all further medical needs, you current Dr. obviously doesn't deserve you as a patient. As for the adhesions, they can come along with any surgery therefore asking the hospital to pay won't help. You could ask to go on a payment plan though. I am just sadden that your Dr. wouldn't help you sooner, and that you had to needlessly suffer for a year!
