im new here,and kinda scared

hello all..my name is sonie..i am 30 years old and have 7 children...13 yr old twins,a 8 yr old,a 6 yr old,and 2 yr old triplets...i have had pain ever since i can remeber from my periods when they began at 10..i got pregnant with my twins at 16,and thats when i started getting ovarian cysts...since that time,i have had 7 children, 2 c-sections,3 d&c's and had to have thermal choice balloon therapy due to extreamly heavy bleeding that would not stop..i also have 7 fibroids in my uterus, and i get cysts ALL the time..most recent, starting hurt horrily bad.went to er,they did a cat scan and found what they thought was a cyst..went to my gyno 4 days later,he ordered a vaginal ultra sound, and it shows i have a cyst on my right ovry the size of egg, however,my doc and i knew it was there and has been for a year now..my left overy shows i have a "complex"cyst on my left overy the size of a lemon, and the ultra sound tech said it is bleeding into itself, and starting to bleed into my overy...i also had my tubed tied january 17,2003 during my c-section with my triplets...i have to go in to see my gyno tomorrow morning at 8:30...due to all the constant problems i am having,i am praying to god i he gives me a hysterectomy..i no longer have periods due to the thermal choice balloon therapy, however,i still get the severe pain...due to the fact that im in such pain all the time, reguardless if i have cysts,or not,i am now starting to wonder if i have endo..the only thing that makes me dount it is,wouldnt someone have caught it with all of the surgerys i have had...i also dont know much about complex cysts, and anytime i read to find out on the net about them,it always take me to a cancer site.does anyone have any experience with these types?and if so,what did they do for them..ive had several people tell me they always have to do surgery for them, because they wont be able to tell if its cancerous or not unless they do surgery..my mother had a hyst at 35 due to pre-cancerous cells,as well as her mother,my grandmother at 34 fo the same exact reason....i am so glad to have found this site..i have been very nervous about this complex cyst, and all the pain, and im hoping to find others who are in my situation or have been in the past, who can give me some advise...thank-you so much....sonie

I would suggest writing all of your questions down that you want to ask your doctor. I would also suggest you take someone along with you as an extra set of ears helps you remember what was said. If you are afraid it may be cancer or if your doctor suggests the possibility of cancer, ask for and get an opinion from a gyn/onc. These doctors are specialists in the area of gyn problems and cancer in particular.

Please come back and let us know how your appointment goes for you.

Hi ((Sonie))
I just want to send some s and know there are others on the site who have some experience with ovarian cysts. I know they will be along to share with you. If your doctor believes there is any chance of cancer, even remote, it is a good idea to try to consult with the specialists in this area -gyn oncologists.
Please let us know how you make out with your appointment today.
Blessings, peggiesue

hi peggysue..i went for my appt today..my doctor said that i have one cyst on my right overy, and 2 complex cysts on my left one..however,he said due to my age,he does not believe it could be cancerous(i wasnt aware that cancer discriminated against age but ok)..he also said he believes i have severe endometriosis, but cant confirm that without surgery...hes going to do laproscopic(sp),to see if i have the endo, and also remove my left overy along with the cyst...he said he will test it for cancer while hes in there, but doe not believe it is cancerous...he didnt give me the option of birth control or anything like that because, they have had me on hormon and birth control pills because i have been on both of these on and off for a year exactly or the cyst on my right overy, however, neither one of those took care of it...so,im going to have the surgery, they are suppose to call me tomorrow and set it up,so as soon as i know something,i will post to you...thank-you very much for the support,im so glad i found this site....sonie

hi there...and thank-you...im not superwoman, just a gal who loves her babies to no end...this site is etreamly wonderful...i do trust my doctor..he has been my obgyn since i got pregnant at 16..he has delivered all 7 of my babies, done 3 d&c's on me,and my thermal choice balloon therapy...i do trust him,i guess no matter what doctor it is,i wont feel at ease untill after they have tested everything, and everything comes back in me..its in my nature to worry, and ill do that till i have my surgery....the only thing i do know though,if after this surgery i start having more problems again,i will look for new doc, even though i trust this one so much..i have expressed my desire to have a hyst.and he does not and refuses to do one right now..he said today,he knows i eventually will have to have one,but he dont feel comfortable doing it now...so,i will keep you posted.at this point,i dont care what he does,as long as i am out of pain, and back to my normal self, whatever that is....i will keep u posted..and again..thank-you..sonie

Sonie, cysts like this can be due to endometriosis. It is also possible that your constant pain is due to adenomyosis, which is where the endometrial lining of the uterus has actually grown into the muscle wall itself. This causes a lot of pain, and is not helped with D&C or ablation at all; most would say that a hysterectomy is the only solution for this problem. It is quite common in women with a history of tubal ligation and/or c-sections...and you've been through a LOT already!

Have you thought of asking your doctor to have a GYN-oncologist as a back-up should the surgery prove the cyst is cancerous? There are young women who've had ovarian cancer; it's rare but there are ladies around here who could tell you that it doesn't discriminate by age. Also, a GYN-oncologist could help if it's endo; that can make surgery tricky, and they have three extra years of surgical training to help you out.

Has your doctor done a CA-125? They can be deceptive, but they can also be used to track how things are going. I had a large, complex cyst, with an elevated CA-125. A GYN-oncologist did my surgery; it turned out to be severe endometriosis. We were able to track the endometriosis disappearing by following my CA-125. It's not sensitive for everyone, but it's a good piece of information to have.

I wouldn't necessarily "hope" that this is endo, but it would certainly be an answer to some of your problems. Ask your doctor about adenomyosis, too...a hysterectomy may turn out to be the answer to your pain and distress. Either of those conditions, while miserable, are benign...and perhaps surgery will ease them for you!

Big healing s,

Audrey

Hey There Audry.....i Asked For The Ca-125 Test, and He Said It Wasnt Nessisary(sp)...he And My Mother Actually Got Into A Verbal Dispute Yesterday Over My Care, and The Things That We Wanted, and The Things He Wanted..i Always Figured If It Were Endo, they Would Have Known It With As Many Surgeries And Things I Have Had,however,he Told Me Yesterday, all The Surgeries I Have Had,,including My Gullblader Were Done Within Weeks,and/or Months Of A Pregnancy, and He Said That Pregnancy Actually Helps The Endo,so At This Point, and I Could Be Wrong, but Now I Am Starting To Think May That Is What It Is...i Also Asked About The Gyn/oncologist,and Was Also Told It Wasnt Needed....i Disagree With This...i Did However Tell My Family...should This Man Come Out After My Surgery And Say,i Am Sorry,i Was Wrong, she Does Have Cancer, that Someone/one Of Them From My Family Had Better Slap That Man.lol...it Isnt Funny, and Even Though He Keeps Telling Me He Realizes The Amount O Pain I Am In,i Dont Think He Honestly Gets The Full Picture...thank-you For Replying To Me..it Means So Much To Have Found A Site And Wonderful People Like You All...thanks So Much!!!!sonie

Hi Sonie,
I assume your gyn knows about the history of pre-cancer in two close female relatives in your family; while there are many cancers which are not inherited, it is important he was advised. Should you really disagree with this doctor's call re visiting a gyn/onc;etc., you might consider seeking a second opinion on your own.
If you've decided to have the lap surgery, I hope it will be scheduled soon and it takes care of your problems including the pain of course. Please keep us updated.
