Scared to Death!

Hi ladies,
I am 25, had a Hyst a year and a half ago due to Endometriosis and adhesions and all that fun stuff. I am even worse off now than before the Hysterectomy. But, since March I have had swollen lymph nodes in my groin area. My Dr.'s didn't think anything of it until lately since I continued to bother them about it. The nodes got bigger and multiplied. So, I was sent to have sonogram on the nodes in my groin and it showed some deep and large nodes. I now have swollen lymph nodes all over my body. I am gong to see a Surgeon on Thursday to see how and when to biopsy them. I just had a urine and blood (CBC) test 2 weeks ago and the Dr told me that nothing looked wrong. But, everyday I wakeup with more and more of them. I am so scared that it might be Cancer but the testings would have showed something, right? Please let me know if anyone has experienced this.

Scared to Death!

Hi Murffy!

I know how scared you must be, but take a deep breath and try not to panic. Enlarged lymph nodes could appear for several reasons unrelated to cancer. I just went through a scare this summer..albeit just with ONE swollen node, so I can imagine how worried you are. Only after a CT scan and a PET scan to prove it, I know it was enlarged NOT due to cancer. My gyn/oncologist feels that it is enlarged due to the fact that so many nodes were removed during my hyster for sampling....and that the remaining nodes now have to work overtime to keep up.

Maybe your nodes are reacting the same way. I"m glad you are investigating it further, thanks to your persistance!

Please let us know what the surgeon says!

Scared to Death!

Murfffy, I'm not sure what's going on, but K9 has some good information in her message. I can't help except send you a and let you know I'm here and concerned for you. I hope the doctor finds out what this is and it's not anything related to cancer.

Scared to Death!

Murfffy,
There are so many things that can cause your lymph nodes to grow! The most common things are infections- viral and the rest of the bunch. Are you having any other symptoms? If you continue to be concerned since your visit in March maybe you should follow up again with your doctor, express your concerns/other symptoms that you may be having and discuss if a biopsy of one of these lymph nodes or a CT scan might be useful.
Personally I notice some variation in the size of my groin lymph nodes all the time - before and after the surgery. The body is a dynamic system constantly changing, but it's good that you are aware of these things and bring them up with your doc who can better help to figure out if it's normal or a reaction to something.
Take care.

Scared to Death!

Have you had mono? My son had swollen lymph glands all over when he had mono.
What kind of surgeon are you seeing? When are you seeing him?

I haven't heard of any kind of cancer that causes all the lymph nodes to swell. This website has a list of some diseases that include swollen lymph glands as a symptom:
http://www.wrongdiagnosis.com/sym/sw...nodes.htm#list

As you can see, it could be caused by MANY things, other than cancer.

Hugs and comfort,
Janie
