does it take forever?

I have a curious question. When the doc finally says yes to you having surgery, what has been everyone's experiences about how long it actually takes to get a surgery date? I have been contemplating the hysterectomy since July after a failed D&C/ablation to stop severe bleeding (also had uterine polyps). Anyway, since I have been investigating it and I have made up my mind...in a perfect world, I would like to end my appointment with the doc today with a surgery date next week...lol. So, how long does it take, ladies?

does it take forever?

It was three weeks from my appointment with my surgeon to my surgery date. It really depends on how busy the surgeon is. My surgeon only operates on Tuesday mornings and is semi-retired (he's 59). Also, it may take awhile to get pre-approval for insurance if required by your policy.

Good luck!

I was three weeks as well. My dr only has the OR on Wednesday mornings. The insurance company is what you need to hope goes through quick. Something you should also think about is the holidays are comming quick so you may have to wait a little longer if your drs office takes time off for the holidays. Any way good luck with your decision.

I got my date within a week but my surgery was around 2 1/2 - 3 months out. I had three doctors on me so had to make sure they all could be there.

does it take forever?

When I went to see my doctor about the TAH, we talked about a surgery date, I gave him a good time for me so that I could get things together, and then he called the hospital while in the room with me and scheduled the O.R. room. The nurse called about a week later and said the insurance co. gave the go ahead for the surgery. Now, 8 weeks later I am about to go to the castle, this Monday is my big event day. Please take care, God bless.

My surgeon called me and asked me to tell her a date. I have an advantage over most of you I have access to the hospital schedule and to my surgeon schedule I picked my own date and time. She took the information to her scheduler about an hour later she called the hospital to schedule it with one of my co workers. I am a surg tech and I also schedule surgery I enjoy both.
