Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

I had my pre-op today...actually yesterday the 10th. I have been up not able to sleep as I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 this morning!

My doctor told me today that I not only will have the bikini cut (staples to be removed on 4th day...ugh) but also a vaginal incision. Have any of you had both of these incisions?

TAH/BSO - endo since 15, 4 laporoscopies; 1 laporatomy; c-section; adhesions; cysts; scar tissue

Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

Hi als1zz
My surgery is scheduled for 11 days time-22nd November. I am scheduled for TVH but my doctor has said that he can't guarantee me that I won't wake up with an incision too. Maybe this is the same with you? Good luck.

I wish only one incision

The doc has already told me there will be two made. Maybe it is because of my experience with the endo and adhesions before. I'm not sure.

Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

We got into this dicussion on another thread awhile back. A hysterectomy is cutting the uterus out. You will have hundreds of stitches inside that you can't see. My surgery was abdominal and the discussion we had was about the number of incisions......I had one a bikini line. Someone posted that I had two.....and I assured her no.......I had one. She had a vaginal and said if she used my logic then she had none. So I went and checked out incisions. My opinion is that I had one incision.....through my abdomen.....and many excisions (which is cutting away) inside......and one was at my vagina where they cut my cervix out and formed my vaginal cuff. I personally don't think of this as an incision because they didn't go in vaginally. Could this be what your doctor is talking about?

Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

I had 3 small laparoscopy inscisions on my abdomen (one in belly button) where they took 1 ovary and tube out and loosened a bunch of ligaments. Then the rest was done vaginally, which I don't understand real well.

Next I had a bladder sling which left two small inscisions on the out side of each side of my labia 1 (I think vaginal inscision)

I think all these small cuts are better. I feel ok except for wierd headache, nausea and smell sesitivity issues.

Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

My surgery began with the lap procedure, but she ended up having to do the TAH due to large fibroids and too much bleeding due to puncturing one of them. So, I ended up with the 3 lap incisions, one in belly button, and I was cut from hip to hip. I did not have a vaginal incision. Not exactly sure why you would have the abdominal and a vaginal incision I would definitely ask the dr. about that again.

Best wishes! Life is good!

Abdominal incision and vaginal incision?

As Texastea said, perhaps the doctor is actually referring to the vaginal cuff. Perhaps he was trying to explain that you will need to recover from the abdominal incision and the top of the vagina will need to heal too.
