I am 6 weeks out today from a TVH. I got the okay from my doctor to resume intercourse this past friday. Last night my husband and I decided we would try. I am very disappointed. It wasn't as painful as I had anticipated, but there were certainly a few UNCOMFORTABLE moments. The question I have, though, is if it is common for us to produce more lubrication during this healing time. We did not use any lubrication and it almost seemed to wet. I know that sounds gross, and I am sorry, I just don't know what to think. There was some bleeding, but not that bad. It almost seemed like my vagina is larger and more wet now. Anyone have similar problems. It is very embarrasing to discuss. I feel like I have ruined things for my husband and I.

Hi special friend
Don't panic! It isn't unusual to have some things to overcome right at first. If you had some bleeding I think you should call and ask your dr about it. I asked mine when I was released what to do if there was any bleeding and he wanted me to call him.
We had some pain(both of us) and some bleeding from some stitches that hadn't dissolved. The dr had to clip some knots. That first time it was a little bit painful, but each time it got better.
I wonder if the added wetness was because of the blood? I'm not sure about that. It would be a good quesion for the dr too and ask about you feeling loser.
Many of us have had some things to overcome right at first. I know we waited another week because I was just tender still at 6 weeks. Everyone is different in where they are in their healing when they are released. Keep trying, it should get better. Let us know what your dr says.

Hello Special Friend!

I am now eight weeks postop and my husband and I tried our "first attempt" on Friday evening. Even at eight weeks it was very, very painful for me but I was told that it will improve. A friend told me that even though our incisions have healed there is still alot of healing going on inside that we can't see. I've also heard that it can take up to six months before we're completely "back to normal." I'm waiting for that day too!!

I also had alot of "natural lubrication" but without the bleeding.

HI, Special Friend!
Try not to panic. Dh and I first had sex again around 6 1/2 weeks - it was uncomfortable, he could feel the cuff, I had spotting afterwards, etc, etc. Anyway - now I am almost 6 months out and can say that things have improved GREATLY.

I think at 6 weeks there is still SO much swelling in the area that things aren't as we hope them to be. I know we are all excited and anxious to make sure everything is in "working order". But, going into it expecting it to be exactly the same as it was pre-op is a little bit unrealistic!

Give yourself time to heal. It will be better each time. Try to relax and enjoy!

Hugs,
Jo

I'm almost 4 months post op and I still do experience some pain during sex. It keeps getting better everytime though and it's almost normal at this point. I also had minor spotting the first time and the dr told me that it might happen.

You're still recovering, so give it some time.

I'm now 7 weeks post op and we got the all clear last Tuesday and had our first sex in almost 4 months last night. It felt like the first time! It was not nearly as bad as I had thought, but spotting occured and I melted down! It was traumatic having bleeding (minor) as this is how it all started...massive bleeding during sex (on vacation no less!). Poor DH didn't know what to do last night...feeling great then having a crying wife on his hands. I slept better than I have in months..and the sex was actually better than I thought. I'm plain old tired tonight though. It sure makes me nervous thinking about the remaining few stitches and having sex. I wonder how the dr's decide when it's really ok. I thought about bending and lifting and how we're told not to do so much of that, but we can resume romping in bed! Does anyone else think this is kooky?? :eyes:
