adenomyosis

i was diagnosed with adenomyosis and mulitple cysts on both ovaries; my uterus and ovaries are enlarged. i have not had a period since january of this year; the past 3 months i have gained 34 lbs.; i am very swollen and the water retention has gotten to the point that i can not wear my jewelry and none of my clothes fit. tomorrow i will be removing all my problems. how it was explained to me is that i have been bleeding into my uterus muscle wall instead of the natural way monthly. my concern is that means the blood is in my uterus and a lot of it; will this increase my chances of a lot of blood lost; my dr. is pretty sure she can perform an LAVH, but she has reserved the option to do it through abdomen. the clock is ticking closer and my anxiety is increasing. Lord help me!!

adenomyosis

HI tweety66,

It is normal to be increasingly anxious before your surgery. I had adenomyosis, and was anemic going in for surgery, but did just fine. I will be hoping that you will come out of it on the road to better health also.
I can't say anything that will take away your anxiety, but I can send a huge and some . Maybe that will help a little?

S,
Kay

adenomyosis

Tweety66-
Tomorrow is our big day. At work today, I was joking that I am going on vacation. My surgery is at 7:05 and I have to arrive at the hospital at 5:00, so I was saying that my plane leaves at 7:05 and I have to arrive at the airport by 5:00. Too bad that's not the truth. Oh well... now if only I could sleep!
Sorry I'm no help with your questions. But we're in this one together, baby! Good luck!

adenomyosis

I am two weeks post-op after VATH. the lab reports showed adenomysis along with some benign fibroids and the endometriosis that I knew about. The doc says it explains the pelvic pain I was experiencing. All will be done by the time you see this but hopefully all will have gone ok- i didn't need an abdominal cut but like you, it might have happened. Do don't worry too much- which ever method used, I'm sure you'll be fine in the long run. Just think of how much better you'll feel in the end! Thinking of you.
Let us all know how you feel once you're up to it.

adenomyosis

I'm brand new here but have been reading for awhile. I've had everything from cysts, random cycles, massive flooding periods, major pain, prolapsed uterus, breast growth and shrinkage, lactation and now they say I have adenomyosis.

I'm scheduled for an abdominal hysterectomy December 27th. I'm just so worried about it being the wrong thing. But I can't think of any other answer!

We will leave one ovary and hope it does the trick. When I write it down it makes more sense, but in my head it just seems so final. I have 3 healthy kids and don't plan more.

I guess my biggest worry is the early menopause ( I'm 39), weight gain, and will I feel different?

I know, what a worrier!

adenomyosis

I share your fear, thought I just had endo till yesterday, now also have adenomyosis, polyps, fibroids. Take a read through some of the post op messages, the ladies will make you laugh, and encourage you to think positive. Most have said they feel a calmness they haven't felt for a long time, I'm so looking forward to not wanting to hurt people!!!hehehe
your prep nurse will be your best friend for a few hours, don't hesitate to ask her anything and voice your concerns, I find them to be the best pre-op.
best of luck to you, and Merry Christmas to the new and healthier you.
