To Keep Ovaries or Not to Keep Ovaries?

Hi Kimberly, First of all best of luck to you. My Dr told me that I was better off keeping them because they are"happy and healthy". I think its important like the other ladies have said here... educate yourself and make a decision thats going to be right for you because everyone is different. I think I've about decided to opt for keeping the ovaries, as long as they look good when the doctor gets into the surgery. I've been reading a TON of information on this topic & it seems that everything I read says it's best to keep them. I am adopted though, so I don't know anything about my family history or my risk for developing ovarian cancer. But, I am not going to worry about that in making my decision to have the doctor leave them intact. My surgery "may" be scheduled for Jan. 9th...... which happens to be my 45th birthday! Go figure, huh? Oh well, I am in so much pain all the time, I don't care if I have it done on my birthday! I just want it done!! Thanks for your input!!

No Way! KEEP them if they are healthy! You would need to take if you got rid of them. Frankly, I'm surprised that your dr even contemplated the idea! My dr would NOT even discuss it! So I still have mine. They are glands and you need them! Do some research.

My vote is to keep them also!! I had my hyst early last year when I was 46. I just turned 48 last month and my little ~ovaries~ are still working great. I am so glad I decided to keep them.
