Unsure...any others had surgery in their 20's?

hello ladies,
Im a 26 year old who has been bleeding for pretty much 11 years with two 9 month breaks. after every hormone and minor surgery there is no sign of it slowing down. my family and i finally came to the decision that this will be the most effective route, so i placed the call this morning to tell my doctor what we decide and now im waiting for the date. has anyone in there 20's had it done and wished they just toughed it out? any feed back would be nice.

Unsure...any others had surgery in their 20's?

Hi there!!

Although I am only 31 I sure wish I would have gotten this done in my 20's! My bleeding was out of control and I asked about a hyst when my 2nd daughter was born via c-section when I was 25 but they wouldn't do it because she was very premature and wasn't given very good odds to make it. (she turned 6 last month!!)

Anyway, I think the biggest thing is that you're comfortable with your decision and your Dr. Go ahead and get a second or third opinion if you're not totally on board with the plan. Who knows maybe there's something else to try.
So glad that you found this site, it truly is a big family here!

I had my hyst at 25 and have no regrets. I was also bleeding contiously due to endo. Here is a link to a thread from a few months back about ladies in their 20s: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/sho...ighlight=young.

Best wishes for your journey!

Unsure...any others had surgery in their 20's?

I just turned 27and had my hysterectomy last week. After years of problems my dr. finally recommended one. I was scared to death at the thought of major surgery, but I knew I couldnt continue the way I was going. It is a big decision and this website is just wonderful, just make sure you do all the research you can, cause there is no turning back once it is done. Best of Luck and keep us posted.

Hi. I'm 22 and my hyster. is scheduled in Jan. My doctor was concerned I'd have regrets since I'm young but she said there was no other reason not to. Even though it's a scary time, I'm confident I'll be happier in the long run. Good luck.

Best wishes to you! I don't think age matters as long as you, your DH and your Dr agree this is the best option for you. Take good care! Melanie

Unsure...any others had surgery in their 20's?

I'm 25 now. I was 19 when I had my daughter, 21 when I had my son and my tubes tied. In 04 I left their dad and in early 05 met the great man I'm with now. He has no kids and wants some. Since I already made my choice not to have kids when I had my tubes tied, he accepted from the beginning that I was not going to have any more kids. He admitted that some days he may feel something is missing but it isn't something that he will allow to come between us. I had my TVH 8 days ago due to severe bleeding and chronic anemia since I was 12 years old. I finally found a doctor who would listen to me and discuss what would work best for me. He would have preferred me to have an endometrial ablation (Novasure) but since it is not a guaranteed fix to my problems, I opted to bypass it and go straight for the hysterectomy. Grrrrrr, I'm blabbering lol. To the point... It is definately a decision that cannot be undone. Please, make sure it is what you want and that you try all avenues before taking such extreme measures.
