Vaginal infections

I have a terrible time with bacterial vaginitis infections. I rarely ever get yeast infections (maybe 2 or 3 that I can remember). I assume it has something to do with my Ph being acidic. Anyway, I had to quit taking BCP's because the infections were constant. Now I have a terrible fear that if my doc does a TAH (one ovary is in question because of the endo) that taking hormones will cause these infections again. I am on BCP's right now to suppress my periods until surgery so I can build up my blood counts and am miserable( burning, itching, smelly discharge).

Why can you buy yeast inf meds OTC but have to be checked out for bacterial infections by your doc?

Also, they used to give cream which was yucky but felt soothing because of the burn now they always give me oral Flagyl? What does your dr give you?

Also, I have bought RePHresh and been using it. I don't think it is helping that much and it would be expensive to use everyday of my life Are there any natural remedies to treat bacterial infections?

Hi Leslee:

I used to get Diflucan for yeast infection: works in one dose.

Vaginal infections

I was just diagnosed with a bacterial infection yesterday. Dr prescribed an oral antibiotic and an estrogen cream. I wasn't even having sysmptoms so didn't know I had an infection. He said that I'm not healing as well as I should due to the infection

On no Reilli, having one while healing would be bad. I am glad you weren't having symptoms though.
