YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

Hi ~ I am SO excited ~ I got a real "date" for my surgery.... Jan. 23rd !! We've been playing the "dating game" for the past week... trying to find a date that worked for the gyn doc, the urologist, AND the hospital's schedules!! It's been maddening, but I finally got an official date!! Yip Yip!! I am SO anxious to have this DONE & over with!!

I have a question.... I have been told that my uterus is enlarged and the sono. technician told me that she saw "a fibroid".... My doc said the same thing but didn't say if there is more than one. I have been noticing a "familiar" feeling lately..... it's that "pulling on the ligaments" feeling.... that I remember from when I was preggo.... many many moons ago!! You know the feeling.... when you turn over in bed.... you get those stabbing, pulling, stinging pains when the growing uterus shifts position... and it pulls on the ligaments. Remember that? And, people would say that the uterus is growing & the ligaments supporting it are being stretched and pulled. Well.... I am having those kinds of "pulling & stretching" pains now, when I turn over in bed at night. I wonder if it IS the familiar ole "ligament" stretching thing going on.... because my uterus is enlarged right now & it is pulling on those poor ligaments. Think that could be?? Anyone else have that problem?? It's not really a problem.... but it just makes me remember being pregnant.... and it's like the same kind of pain.... growing uterus "stuff"

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

geeze kim,, I thought I was reading my own mind. Have been having same stuff, but you described it much better then I could. Weird twinges when I move, lower right ab near hip, down to the coochie, throbs then goes away. Ab feels tight and full. I get nauseous, and have to pee not soon after. I keep thinking I'm feeling all this stuff cuz I can't concentrate on anything else, its driving me crazy. I'm going to work today, hopefully it will keep my mind off everything else in my head. Aunt flo is due any day, still scared to death. If she comes too soon I don't know how I will shop. Maybey I'll get lucky with an easy one since last 2 were so horrible.
I'll be watching for answers to your questions.

congrats on the date, I'm so happy for you.

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

I can't relate it to being pregnant because I never have been, but I keep describing the feeling as having large rubber bands stretched inside my abdomen just about all of the time. I can't wait to have those big rubber bands taken out! But it's very uncomfortable, to the point of being painful when they start cramping.

Does that sound familiar? I have been diagnosed with fibroids as well.

Congratulations on getting your surgery date! There is now relief in sight!

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

Hey~ YES, it is that "rubber band" stretching kind of feeling in there!! And, it's WICKED pain, isn't it?? I remember having it all the time when I was my uterus grew with growing babies. It just makes me wonder just how big my poor ole uterus must be right now.... if it's actually pulling and stretching the ligements like this!! YIKES!! Maybe I don't really WANT to know, huh??

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

Yep, Donna, those ARE the feelings I'm having too!! I would much rather have the "stretching ligements" pain...because of a little baby growing in there.... but then again..... I don't know about that..... my sons are both teenagers now & one of them is a "brand new driver"..... My daughter is almost 9..... so maybe I don't really wish there was a baby in there..... Yeah, probably not!! Hehehe!!! I can totally relate to the feeling of the bloated abdomen.... guess it goes along with ALL of this junk, huh?? Oh... it will be SO AWESOME to finally get this all done and over with!!

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

Congrats on your date mine is the week after yours on the 30th of Jan. and I totally know how relieved you must feel. I too have a growing fibroid and those pulling feelings (which makes me wish I still lived near my old chiropracter who knew how to help my back pain).
It is very similar to being pregnant only with a blob am also having it done with a urologist so we can email each other from bed if you want! I'd be curios to know how you are doing by the end of your first week. Best wishes! Beth

YEA ~ Got a "Date" & Have a Ligament Question

I'm glad you have the date AND that you're so excited about it! Why? In my opinion, I believe your attitude leading up to the surgery has a lot to do with your recovery. I had an absolute positive one going in and was just as excited - if not more (is that possible?!? LOL) - than you are about it. I've remained that way post-op too and I've had a phenomenal recovery!

As for the "rubber band" effect - I remember those days from both of my pregnancies. Not very comfortable! I didn't have fibroids tho', so I couldn't say for sure if what you have going on is related to that. However, I wouldn't doubt it!

Good luck and keep us all posted!
