Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

Hey, ladies....when did you get the OK to start vacuuming around the house? I don't see the doc again until Jan 4 and the dog hair on the carpets only seems to bother me and not the rest of the family!

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

I don't go in until Friday for my 6 week check, but I wouldn't care if he says I could never vacuum again. All kidding aside, I will post what the Dr. says after my check up.

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

I think it depends on what all you have done surgically. I am not allowed until after 3 months.

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

I dont see the Dr until Jan5th, which will be my 4 week post-op to see when I can start my normal stuff again. I am not saying this is correct but I have vaccumed my LVRoom 2x this past week. I have kitties so I too tend to hate the hairy stuff all over the place. Plus for some reason my carpet attracts everything in sight.
Just becareful, what ever you decide! Good Luck!

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

I had a TVH on 11/14, and I am restricted from vacuming till 1/14. It goes along with the lifting and other restrictions. Frustrating. I thought I would be able to do it and other things by now. Oh well. I really am tired of taking somebody to the store with me just to grocery shop. I keep forgeting thing, and the boys keep costing me too much when they come.

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

Hi MebinNJ!

The gyn who discharged me from the hospital after my TAH/BSO made it very clear that under no cirumstances was I to vacuum until 6 weeks...at the earliest. She said that vacuuming is very dangerous to the healing abdominal area. Please don't do it!

Many s and Best Wishes,

I think it would depend some on the vaccuum too-- I wouldn't touch a Kirby for a year!!! A lighter weight, or one not set on "super suction" wouldn't be as much of a strain though. However... doc and dentist both told me 12 weeks--I have no idea why, but I'm not argueing because I hate to vaccuum anyway. But when I do... that furniture is moving, couch cushions are coming off... dust bunnies be on guard!!!

I also don't see Dr till Jan.
I assumed vacumning came under the "no heavy lifting for 4 weeks" as no one has specifically mentioned it.
DH has been doing the vacumning up till now, but he just wizzes around the centre of the rooms, wouldn't consider moving furniture and he would never look up! These are usually the jobs I would do.
So last evening it all got the better of me. I carefully got the vacumn out (it is a very light AEG) and sucked up all the spiders and webs that have been annoying me. I felt so much better afterwards. I was already sore from Xmas shopping anyway.
This morning I carefully sucked up all the birdseed that was bringing ants in.
After reading all your posts, I think I should leave vacumning the carpet for a bit longer?
cheers

Vacuuming--when did you get the OK?

i cant waite to be able to vacume dont family members see that dirt that gets in the corners? they all just get in the middle are they scared to get close to the wall? they wont damage the base boards lol
it is rather discourageing not being able to do it our selves and its hard for us to say something to them as they take it as us complaining
isnt it funny they do house work and complain that they dont get credit for vacumeing and doing other stuff when did we ever get credit for vacumeing and cleaning
