went to see surgeon

I went to see my surgeon yesturday. She had said she wanted to do TVH possible BSO. Since she had called me at work and I don't have an appointment until the day before surgery I needed some questions answered. Have been reading alot of posts here and researching. The hyst is due to endometerial hyperplasia, a severly tilted uterous, fibroids and polyups. I have also had reoccurent pain on the left side that has gone from occasional to almost constant over the past 20+ yrs. My biggest question sounds silly but I couldn't help wondering how they can see up there with a TVH especially to see and take care of whatever is causing my pain on the left. She chuckled when asked and said they can actually see quite a bit but she had also been thinking about doing a lap assist due to my pain and history. So that is what we have decided LAVH, I will keep my right overy if it is healthy however she said if there is endo like she suspects it needs to go too. I felt so silly being so worried about this. I do like and need to be informed though. Now for a question for you ladies, do you get swelly belly with LAVH and if so will the swelly belly band help or is it mostly for an abdominal hyst. Thankyou all for being here I am soooo happy I found this site.

Hi there sugrmack
I had LAVH for endo. The good news for me was that all endo has gone because it was attached to tubes, ovaries, uterus, cervix and I had all taken away. I did have swelly belly- with lap assisted you get blown up with gas and it takes a while to go down anyhow. I have had lap surgery three times before so I knew what to expect. This goes down after a few days. However, I still had the standard swelling after that which everyone here talks about, but probably not as bad as some. It must be the internal healing going on. I didn't use the belly band as i found this site after surgery and I'm not sure about shipping to uk. It wasn't too bad anyway. I still feel a bit swollen even now after five weeks but that could be lack of ab crunches etc as well.
Good luck
