Nervousness is starting

I thought I'd be calm, cool and collected but I'm starting to get the jangling nerves.
To add to that I've had a bit of IBS and that always agravates my hemorrhoids. I'm absolutely dreading the bowel prep what with the fresh hemorrhoids already inflamed. *look of horror on my face*

Tomorrow is my pre-op....praying my blood pressure stays down. Gads I'm a wreck tonite!

Thanks for listening to me whine!

I also have IBS...luckily no ouchies on the behind! IBS can be a terrible thing!
I was a nervous wreck before my hyst and now I believe all the sisters when they said...waiting is the worst part! I had myself scared silly!
Pre-op appt my BP was up sp they did an EKG right then, all was fine. Try to relax and hey...enjoy one more BATH if you can!
Anyway, good luck and my prayers are with you.

Hang in there

Believe me from being just 5 days post op. I had my suregery last Tuesday so I know what this day is doing to you. Hang in there. The waiting and the anticipation is way worse then the surgery ever will be. If you get a chance read some of the castle stories under pre-op. They helped me alot and you will find that they will ease your nerves alot. I have IBS too and I am always in the bathroom. So when it came time for the bowel prep it was nothing. I didnt go that much after it and that was all because I go all the time anyway so you might not be as bad either. Like I said Hang in there you will be a Princess real soon!

I also have hemorrhoids so I have a complete understanding why you would be concerned about the bowel prep. Mine were horribly inflamed at the time I went through that, so I was expecting excruciating pain. It wasn't the most pleasant experience I've ever been through, but I'm happy to say that it wasn't the worst, either. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that yours will go smoothly without much discomfort. The good thing is, your hemorrhoids will have a few days of "rest" before your next BM after the surgery, so hopefully they will have time to settle down a bit.

You said that your pre-op was tomorrow. You might mention them to the nurse, and perhaps she can give you some hints to make the experience go more smoothly.

Thankyou so much for the comforting words......I keep telling myself that if I get too bugged out about this it'll make my blood pressure go up and that would NOT be a good thing. LOL

The idea that I won't have a BM for a few days is a comforting one and something I hadn't thought of. That definitely will give these puppies time to shrink!

WynterSnow, it's nice to hear that while the bowel prep wasn't a pleasant experience to have along with hemorrhoids, I'm relieved to hear you say that it wasn't the worst experience either. Perhaps my dread is unfounded......in fact I think I'll put myself in the mind-set that it will be uncomfortable but not unbearable!

Thanks again. I'm feeling a bit more at ease tonite.

me too!! I'm nervous!

Boy oh boy do I know what you are talking about. My surgery is Tues and tomorrow I have to drink a gallon of GO LIGHTLY. A gallon in 2 hours!!!! I also have the 'roids. What a pain in the ****! I told my DH that after all that Go Lightly, I won't be able to stand the ride to the hospital. Maybe I'll just tell them once they get the one side of me done just flip me over and remove the bundles of pain on my behind. I've already had my hyst. 5 yrs ago and now am having my right ovary (only 1 I have left)taken out and endo and adhesions removed. All of it will be done abdominally. So I know what ya mean. I'm a big ball of jitters. Worrying about hubby and my 2 daughters (8 1/2 and 12). I'm sure they will be fine. Just got the jitters. Saying a prayer for ya!

Sorry to double post, but you didn't mention what you were doing currently to find relief. I have found that a warm bath is soothing. You probably won't be able to do that after the surgery, though (risk of infection), but a warm shower is also good, concentrating on the inlfamed areas. And ice packs also help with the inflamation, but be sure to wrap the ice in a thin towel or washcloth so that it doesn't make direct contact with the skin. Good luck to you.

Well I got my bowel prep stuff and it shouldn't be TOO bad. It's not the golitely stuff, thank goodness.

Now however, my BP is a bit elevated and the bowel prep is pure sodium......that'll likely raise the BP a bit more. We're hit and miss tomorrow I guess. If my BP is too high he'll postpone surgery.

I plan on spending the day doing last minute chores around the house and generally being contemplative and rested. (that is if I can rest between trips to the bathroom LOL)

Good luck to you as you await your surgery, waiting truly is the hardest part. One of the things that has helped with my recovery is this:
The hospital that I was at supplied a Hygenique bath.
It fits on the toilet and you hook it up to your sink. It has a wand that soothes that area. I call it my "magic wand"! I phoned them and orderd more of the glycerine cartridges.
Here is the website if anyone is interested: (you may need to copy and paste).
