Surgery tomorrow - started period yesterday!!!!

Kinda freaked out about it - I started my period yesterday & I'm a very heavy bleeder. I'm scheduled for my surgery tomorrow - do you think they will still do it? Or will I have to reschedule? Also, it's supposed to be vaginal, will they still do it that way, or maybe switch to abdominal? I just don't want to show up ready for surgery & they send me home because of it. UUUGGGHHH!!!!

Hi

I was on mine when I went to the hospital and they are used to this happening. I dont think it will be cancelled. I wasnt supposed to start mine for 2 weeks but the nurse told me that the stress and the nerves for some reason start alot of women right before the surgery. Really weird how our bodies are. Aunt Flo has to make that last appearance. I guess she wants the last word!!LOL! You will be fine! See you on the other side!

Surgery tomorrow - started period yesterday!!!!

I had lavh one of the reasons was never ending bleeding. So no matter what day the surgery was I would have been bleeding. Hope all goes well. Remember to rest as much as you can after and drink lots of water. Good luck Robin

Surgery tomorrow - started period yesterday!!!!

I started my period the morning of the surgery, more than a week early, brought on by stress, no doubt. The doctor just smiled when I told him I had started, and they went right ahead with the surgery.

Oh yeah, that doesn't matter! Don't worry, they'll still do it.

Surgery tomorrow - started period yesterday!!!!

I was on mine too. Hey, when its 3 weeks out of the month, its kinda hard to schedule around. I just said, "Oh well, this will be one period that WONT be three weeks!". Then when I woke up from surgery they told me I could 'spot' for up to 6 weeks. I wanted to cry. I only spotted for a day and not a smudge since. I still feel naked to not have a pad on. I am going to buy me some thongs soon

Yep, kinda hard to wear a thong when you've constantly got a "mattress" stuck between your legs!

They will still do it, no worries. I asked my doctor too---I was on the pill and had to stop it a few days before, and was concerned that I would start my period. She said that it happens all the time and that it would not change anything. AND>>>>>> things will be better once you are done!!!! Good luck.

Best wishes! And this is your last one!

I hope your surgery goes very well. I hope you feel like a new woman afterward.

This is your last period. Period. Isn't that fantastic?

A week ago I was having cramps that made it difficult to even walk. Just miserable. And my period started with my usual migraine to announce its arrival. Lovely. I was really feeling lousy. Then my mom pointed out that that might have been my last period ever. (Fingers crossed, since I have 2 weeks until my surgery.) She said that afterward maybe I should do something to celebrate never having one again. I think that maybe, when I feel better, I'll buy some nice new underwear!
