Scheduling my surgery after New Years

I just found out Tuesday that I need a complete hyster. At the time, I didn't know what to ask so I asked nothing at all. I stumbled upon this site today and have been amazed at the honest answers I've found. I'm not quite as scared now and seem to feel more balanced. I am still very weepy and am about to start my last period. In a way it's like watching a friend leave but oh what a mean friend she's been to me lately!

My dear husband has been speechless about the whole thing and doesn't know how to handle my tearful woes. I really feel sorry for him, what with the mood swings, the ups and downs, the tears and rants...poor poor man!

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and meet you all. I'll be spending quite a bit of time here, reading every word posted and soaking up as much info as I can. I call my doctor Tuesday to schedule the surgery so I'll let you know when it is...at least now I'm armed with questions for him!

Welcome to the board!

This site has been a life saver for me as well.
My DH is very understanding and wants to talk, but sometmes we need to connect with others that are going thru the same thing we are.

Scheduling my surgery after New Years

I know all about the DH and the weepy stuff. Had to call him this morning because I was hysterical, never have done that before to him. I usually just keep it to myself, but it was too overwhelming today. I'm seeing my doc tomorrow to start surgery preperations, I'm praying it won't be a long wait, but who knows. I've already started spring cleaning my house, and making lists of things I need to accomplish. I also have to prepare my office, and get my dads business taxes ready. If I can do that I will be ready for a break and a few weeks on the couch.
Keep checking out the posts, on pre op and post op! This site has truly saved my sanity. Unless you are fortunate to have a compasionate close friend or relative who has gone through this recently and doesn't mind sharing, it can be stressful and no one seems to understand. There are so many outcomes and different circumstances its great to see all the responses.
best wishes to you

I found this site while looking for info right after my hyst was scheduled - I've been here ever since. Here's a link to a good list of pre op questions:

I printed it and added more as I thought of them. It sure helped me!

Best wishes.

I've learned that if I make a list of my questions - I actually remember to ask them.
