I am strangely calm. I have been through fear, depression, and now, I am just waiting for the day, with confidence everything will be ok. The butterfly represented everlasting life to the Indians. My sister passed away from uterine cancer 10 years ago at the age of 48. She made each one of her daughters a needlepoint picture of a butterfly before she died. I remember her sitting there with cancer racking her body, stabbing that picture with her needle. She was such a strong person. She lived at my Mom's the last year of her life. Her tombstone is etched with butterflies in each corner. The last words she uttered when she died to her nurse was "I am a happy tired" and then she died. She had a very traumatic death but still managed to utter those words to comfort my Mom and I. I would rather have a hysterectomy and hopefully remove any chance of having cancer there.

My prayers are with you, and I know when you go in, your Sister will be watching over you!!!!! I have 2 weeks to ** and I am nervous, but not as nervous as I was before I found this site!!!!!! I think I am more nervous about the needles and the recovery than the actual surgery!!!!!!
My best wishes to you and thoughts of love to your wonderful guardian angel, your sister!!!!!

Sending you both good thoughts for your surgeries. It will be over before you know it. Don't forget to take your pain meds every 4-6 hours, it will be a big help to you.

You are having your surgery the same day as me. I too am nervous and afraid but thankfully found this website last night. I've been pretty much avoiding the thought of the surgery. I had a myomectomy for fibroids in 1999 when I was 29 so this will be very similar. I'm wishing that I'd had this surgery then rather then the myomectomy so I wouldnt be going through this now. You'll be fine...and think that there's two of us having it done on the same day. Mine is scheduled for 2:15pm EST. Good luck and I'll look to hear from you here when you're home!

Hello Michelle- thanks for replying to this thread. Fear is normal, especially of the unknown. We will make it through. I know we will. Good luck! Best wishes! Cathy

I don't have a set time for surgery. I am supposed to be there by 8 in the morning. The nurse told me they usually bring the last one back by 3. So I feel like I will be in a assembly line. But my mother in law feels that my surgery will be about 9, since they told me to be there at 8. I just go along with the flow here, since I am an American living in the UK. I am still not quite used to their medical system. But I have had excellent care so far.

I will be one year post op (Jan. 3, 2005) from my surgery the day that you go in for your hysterectomy. I know how nervous you must be right now and how slow the days seem to be going by...but the waiting IS the hardest part. From my experience, this surgery was one of the best things I have done for myself. I have had a great recovery. Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that the other side is wonderful and that it will be over before you know it. Goodluck and if you have any questions or just need to vent about your surgery, feel free to send me a private message anytime.

I'm sure your sister will be watching over you on Jan. 3 as she is everyday. She sounds as if she was a wonderful and courageous woman.
