6 days to go and I woke up with a sore throat!!

I have 6 days to go until my TAH and I woke up yesterday with a sore throat (probably due to Ohio weather!!). There is no way I want to have my surgery postponed. I'm doing and taking everything that I can to get rid of this before it gets worse!
I don't need extra stress right now! urrrggggg....

6 days to go and I woke up with a sore throat!!

Dear Dtoney,
I hope your not getting a cold. Stress can lower our imune system too. My DS and many of my co workers got a horrible cold a few weeks ago. I felt surrounded by germs. One of my co workers and I started using a vitamine product called Air Born and so far we are both fine. Hope this helps. Oh and we took it twice a day not every 4 hrs like it said to. Good luck/

6 days to go and I woke up with a sore throat!!

Hi dtoney,

I'm sorry you have a sore throat. It may just be the dry winter air, but it might be something else. Why not go in and have the Dr look. Maybe he will want to give you something to help your chances of it not becoming something worse?

S,
Kay

Check with your doctor but......

Some soothing home recipes for a sore throat, which could be just viral....

Gargle with salt water 3 to 4 times a day - about a teaspoon of salt to 1/2 to 1 cup of warm water

Hot lemon water with honey

Lots of rest and water with little talking

A viral sore throat should go away on its own after about 48 hours.

Good luck and heal quickly!

6 days to go and I woke up with a sore throat!!

I wish you ladies lotsa luck on your upcoming surgeries.

If you are feeling ill, you might want to report it to your doctor because there are several things the doc can do...for instance antibiotics. I had my tonsils out Tuesday and had a terrible sore throat a couple of days before...I mega-dosed on the vitamin C and Zinc. That is really supposed to help your immune system (of course, I would certainly check with the doc). I was taking about 2000 mg of C and ...I don't remember...how much Zinc. I really think that helped my recovery.

Meanwhile, drink TONS of fluids and stay away from anyone who is "germy". Take care and see you on the other side.

I am sorry about your sore throat. Do call your dr and ask about meds to clear it up if needed. If you already have a compromised immune system before surgery, it can affect your recovery. Also, mostly likely, you will have a breathing tube down your throat, so you need to your throat in good shape. Best wishes to you!
