Home after yesterday's surgery
I also did not find it to be too tough.
THe spinal anethesia allowed me to wake up pain free.
Iv drip with a strong antiinflammatory in it.
Iv drip also caused full bladder and I had to ask to be catherized about 5 hours after surgery as this was becoming uncomfortable. A few things that helped:
having a family member spend the night to advocate for timely pain meds...i took dervocet? through the night in addition to the iv drip of motrin.
Also, I liked the thermacare heat wraps that I took....make my tummy much more comfortable.
I can't say the night was painfree but it was manageble
and am presently tucked into own bed.,having bathroomed, showered and had a light lunch..Presently only needing 800 mg motrin and a warm heating pad for pain...not bad!
oh, and a sense of humor helps...
3 things:
on the do not have after midnight before surgery list...
NO SNUFF!
after surgery i commented to a nurse who had asked about my pain level, ' I feel LIKE I have
serious menstrual cramps". She replied,"dear, you know they took out your uterus." duh
thirdly, my eldest daughter was with me when my doctor came in to review post op instructions. When he said to me, 'No intercourse" , my daughter MEgan just laughed and said," I'll keep an eye on her...my how the tables have turned!"

That's great! Yes, it felt like mentrual cramps for me too. Imagine the nurse saying that! She must have been joking! Rest now, and a happy recovery to you! See you on the other side!

welcome home
Welcome home ... my date was the 29th too for a tvh/bso.
For some reason, they didn't give me the spinal anethesia we had agreed upon the week before, so I did wake up in pain...but morphine helped! And my pain felt like the worst menstrual cramps ever, so I know what you mean! Even though everything was gone, the pain felt similar. Maybe your nurse just thought you were goofy on pain meds...
I hope you have a great recovery!
