heprin anyone

Had my pre op visit with the Dr on Thrusday and he mentioned he was going to give me a HRT shot as soon as surgery was done and mentioned this would last about 1month until we decided what kind I needed. He also mentioned he would give me a shot of heprin durning surgery to prevent bloodclots. Did anyone else out there get one? He said he likes to do the heprin and the surgercial socks both. Never had a heprin shot before and have 3 c-sections, hernia repair and 3 major back surgeries. Just wondered what gives?

Heprin

I had a Heprin shot, the stocking and pressure things on my legs that would pump up with air then go down. I was told it was just to help make sure I would have blood clots. It thins your blood. They use it on my Dad when he had his heart attack.
I hope that helps,

heprin anyone

I got heprin twice a day the whole time I was in the hospital. So for 4 days. That is standard practice with the hospital I was in. I also had the socks and the air pumper things. I wonder if it is because it is so hard to move around for the first few days. They just really want to make sure if your stuck in bed that you don't get any clots.

No worries!!
