can a cyctocele be repaired with a LAP?

Ok,
I Am 5 Months Post-op For The Repair Of A Cyctocele And Grade 3 Rectocele. And I Have Noticed Something Not Feeling Right At All!!! I Made A Appt. With My Dr. But It's Not Till Jan 31st. I Know My Body And I Know It Has Fallen Again!!! It Feels Like A Tampon Is Hanging Out Again!! Also I Was At The Movies Yesterday And It Felt Like I Was Sitting On A Egg All The Same Feelings I Had Pre-op!!! I Am Going To Ask Him If Things Can Be Repaired Thru A Lap... I Can't Bare The Thought Of Going Thur That Surgery Again It Was Horriable For Me And It Didn't Even Work!! What The Heeck Have It Done If It's Only Going To Last A Few Months Or So. My Gosh I Was In Pain For 8 Weeks And Then It Was Ok For A Few More Now This!!! Maybe If They Go In Thru A Lap It Will Last Longer!! Should I Ask Him??? Or Do They Not Fix Those Things That Way???

Coffeelover,
I can't answer your question - but I would like to know the answer too. I have read that there are two ways of fixing a cystocele - one does require a stomach incision. I do know I am going to insist they use mesh this time. Let me know what you find out as I am pursing a fix in the near future.

can a cyctocele be repaired with a LAP?

Coffee,
My vaginal vault prolapse surgery was done laprascopically, but part of it was done vaginally too. My cystocele and rectocele were grade 3. I think the actual cystocele was done vaginally. I sure hope things are ok down there for you. At 5 months you probably don't have swelling down there so something must be going on. I know this is very personal, but sometimes if you are constipated it feels that way down there too. Only you know your own body so that may not be the case with you at all..it's just another possibility. I can feel your frustration and you will be in my thoughts and prayers!

can a cyctocele be repaired with a LAP?

Hi Coffee~
I did a little searching for you and think I may have found some information on fixing your cystocele by lapro. Here is the sitehttp://www.tvtsling.com/lap_proc2b.php:
I hope it helps you.
I hope you get feeling better. I have to finally say I feel great as far as the gyn stuff goes. Too bad this back surgery and recovery is a hundred times worst.
Let me know if I can help you any.
I had pelvicol graft used when my gyn did the enterocele and rectocele repair. It seems to be doing great. The uro/gyn didn't use any graft material, so I feel if any of my prolapses fail, it will be the cystocele.
Hang in there and know I am thinking about you.

can a cyctocele be repaired with a LAP?

I had cystocele and rectocele repair done 4 weeks ago. Went for 4 week checkup and the cystocele is already bulging! I was devastated because I have had a really tough time with this surgery too. My rectocele was MUCH worse than the cystocele, and I have never had any incontinence or urinary problems. He is hopeful that it will not be symptomatic. Said there is an abdominal surgery that can be done, which would be my next option. My suggestion to you is to find a Urogynocologist. There were none in my area and I would have had to drive 3 hrs to get to one. Wondering if it would not have been worth it. I sure don't want to go through this again. Most large teaching medical centers will have a Urogyn specialist. There are many new procedures that are being used. I just decided mine was not that bad and now am having second thoughts.... I will be thinking of you as you deal with this - I know it is very discouraging and frightening.

can a cyctocele be repaired with a LAP?

I, too, have developed a cystocele and am hoping it can be repaired with my procedures on Jan 13. I am 31 and feel i am way to young to ahve something like this already, but i have had three vaginal virths one of which should have a c-section. That probably ahs osmething to do with it.

Peggy,
Can you send that website address again - I couldn't get it to work and am very interested if there is an option to abdominal surgery. Thanks.

The website referred to is www.tvtsling.com. You can click on lots of different procedures there.

Many urogyns now feel that the old anterior repair is not the proper fix for cystoceles because most cystoceles are caused by paravaginal defects, and an anterior repair does not repair those. They prefer the paravaginal repair. It is a procedure that was formerly done abdominally, but some are now doing it laparoscopically. It is very similar to a Burch bladder procedure, and really I think the two should be combined to get incontinence relief and cure of the cystocele.

Bonniebes -
I guess that is why the repeat rate for cystocele repair is so high. Good information - thanks for sharing!
