Just got back from pre-op

Just walked in the door from pre-op also. My doc is the best and took all the time I needed and answered any and all of my questions. He Give me a script for pain pills, told me to go buy some "hebiclense" (an anti-bacterial soap to bath or shower with the night or morning of surgery) a medicated douche, and yes, a fleets enema. Joy! he promised me I would be kept pain free and would have a spinal in addition to a pain pump, which I could keep for the duration, or switch to pills....my call. What a guy! He said when I checked in to the hospital, things would move quickly, beginning with a seditive IV, some nice leg stockings to prevent clots, and a change into the lovely gowns they provide. My DH will take possession of my rings and bags, etc. Then I went over the the hospital and gave them my insurance info, and they took some blood to type and cross match just in case I needed a transfusion. However, my doc said in all of his 20 years, no patient of his has ever needed one and felt it unnecessary to donate any blood. And that was it. Easy as pie. LOL I finished my pre-op shopping with a back-scratcher and new cozy zillion count thread sheets.

I've been doing ok really, but all of a sudden I can't seem to stop shaking from nerves. Yes, I do have calmative meds, but they seem to have no effect. I cannot believe I'm getting so wierded out now. Thanks for listening, needed a place to vent other than DH who is all of a sudden concerned that I'm somehow "hiding" something more serious. Not so... He knows all that I do, went to pre-op with me yesterday, even read my hyster sister book :-)

I hear ya about the nerves thing! The closer I get the more anxious and nervous I get.
I go for my pre-op appt with my Dr. on the 9th, followed by the phone history screen on the 10th, that will determine what pre-op diagnostic testing I will have done, but I am already scheduled for diagnostic testing on the afternoon of the 12th.
I was originally told that I would not need pre-op testing done, but day before yesterday got a letter in the mail saying I now do. I will talk to my Dr. about that on Monday.
Good Luck and Best Wishes to everyone!

Jill

I know what you mean Katie.
My hubby went to the doctors appointment with me today. He told the doctor that He was very concerned and that she would need to come out and tell him if something is going wrong. He used the term "Don't play God"! I was blown away! My doctor was very understanding and reassured him! He was trying to pin point the actual time that the 7 cmm fibroid started because he believes is work stress related! His emotions are getting the best of him too. I need to be more understanding right now. I know he's nervous even if he doesn't show it!
