LAVH recovery?

I have a LAVH scheduled for the 26th of this month. I'm not worried at all; I love my doctor and have 100% confidence in him. My question is this: What is the recovery like after a LAVH? All I've read and heard is that it is so much easier than an abdominal hysterectomy. If anybody has had one, can you let me know what to expect? Thanks very much!

LAVH recovery?

The major difference between an LAVH and an abdominal hysterectomy is the external incision(s). With an LAVH you will have 3 or 4 small incisions less than an inch long, whereas with an abdominal hysterectomy, the incision can be about 6 inches or more. You have to remember that INTERNALLY the same procedure was performed. You won't be able to do too much--just eat, sleep, shower and go to the restroom for about the first 2 weeks. You may or may not be able to drive--depends on your doctor and whether or not you're on pain medication. The next 2 to 4 weeks, you should still take it easy. The one rule to remember: YOU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO HEAL.

Good luck to you!

LAVH recovery?

I had a total lap hyst with anterior repairs 3 1/2 weeks ago. Before I left the hospital, my doctor told me I could drive to my 2 week checkup if I felt up to it...... which I did. At my 2 week check, he then told me to do what ever I felt like doing. I could even go back to work when I felt like it. I was not in any pain at this point but tired really easily. Driving wore me out.( I would have liked more guide lines because I am afraid I will damage some repairs?!?!) I am planning to go back to work this week as I sit at a desk all day and am not on my feet. I really feel pretty good even though I do tire still. Good luck to you and rememeber to listen to your body during recovery. Like everyone is telling only have one chance to heal properly.
