something to calm your nerves????

Yes... once they had the IV in my arm, I was asked if I wanted a little *something* (which turned out to be Versed). I said yes, and within a few seconds, I was in La-La Land. I barely remember being wheeled out of the Pre Op area and have no memory of entering the OR.

I highly recommend taking them up on their offer, or asking for it if they don't offer it first.

Good luck with your surgery!

something to calm your nerves????

thank you so much for answering me..that is the same exact medicine they gave my 13 year old son,he had to have emergency gull bladder surgery last month, and he was terrified, and within seconds of them giving it to him,he was ohhhhh so calm....i was hoping they would give me something, but im not always good about asking as im always afraid they look poorly on people who request for that kinf od medication..but if they are use to people asking, then i definaltly will!!..thank you much

They insisted I have something as I was all hyped up! Never asked what it was, but I was certainly calmer when I entered the OR. Thake them up on their offer and let your nurse know how scared you are.

something to calm your nerves????

Not only was my prep nurse wonderful about calming my nerves, she also insisted I have a little something once the IV was in place.
She had a hyster a few years ago, and was a world of help in allowing me to ask any questions I had, and to assure me I was going to be just fine! It turns out she was also my Prep nurse for other tests I had to have last week and she remembered me. She was more than happy to tell me everything I was experiencing post op was very normal; the cramping in the lower abdominal area, feeling WAY tired still, and she recommended I just keep the pampering coming for at least 3 more weeks!

something to calm your nerves????

My gyn prescribed xanax for the week before my op to calm my nerves. The day of I could only take my heart med with a sip of water.

They must have given me something pre-op, because I felt very calm talking to the surgical team.

Once in the OR they game me something in the IV to put me out and I woke up in recovery. It was just like everyone said. I remember nothing.

something to calm your nerves????

I didn't ask for anything to help relax me. While I was waiting to be taken back to the operating room, the anesthesiologist said he was giving me something to help me relax. Like Linda, I don't remember being wheeled out of the prep area. The next thing I remember is waking up in my room.

Good luck to you!
