Liquid Diet Suggestion?

It occurred to me that Slim Fast would make a great addition to a liquid diet and would at least do something more for hunger pangs. What do you think Sisters? Does this qualify? I am working right up the day before surgery and didn't want to be faintin' on the job.

I have a feeling that it will not qualify for the liquid diet, too much protein for one thing. Do ask your doctor if it is okay and let us know, I could be wrong! Best wishes!

Yeah, I thought about the protien, etc. Probably why I haven't seen it suggested. Hmmm....I suppose lots of Dr. Pepper will help. LOL.

If you are talking about a clear liquid diet, then not allowed. If you are talking about a full liquid diet, I would suggest asking your doctor.

Dr. has not mentioned liquid diet yet. I see him on 1/18 and I will discuss then. Nurse already told me he does not do bowel prep. I am going to stress that I want to do bowel prep and liquid diet because why in heaven's name would I want anything left in there to stay there and turn to concrete with the addition of the narcotics? Makes no sense to me to put myself through unnecessary misery.

Hi, I didn't have to do a liquid diet before my tah/bso. The only bowel prep that I had was an enema that was given after I got to the hospital the morning of my surgery. I some gas to get rid of after my surgery but no extra problems - no constipation. Each dr has his/her reasons for whatever pre op prep they order. The best thing is to follow whatever he orders exactly.

I also did not have bowel prep or the liquid diet. All I had to do was stop eating at midnight the night before surgery. That was it. Period. And I did not have the gas/constipation issues many have had.

Please follow your 's orders for you and your surgery. If you choose a liquid diet and bowel prep that has not been ordered, you may compromise your system and cause dehydration that can affect your surgery and recovery. Best wishes to you.

I will do what the Dr. advises, but I am going to discuss my concerns with him. I know my system and I know narcotics will constipate me up to my eyebrows and I really dont' wanna go through that if I dont' have to. I have my list of questions all ready for the 18th. :-D
