migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I am having the hysterectomy in March, keeping the ovaries. I am having for relief of chronic pelvic pain, likely adenomiosis. Many people talk about the headaches, mine are frequent anyway but guaranteed throughout my period. The Dr. said that it may or may not be effected by this surgery. I would like to know what other people's experiences have been!

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I used to suffer horrible migraines - always knew when I was going to start. I had a LAVH on Dec 2nd due to Adenomyosis and have not had one migraine since! I also used to have incredible back aches and my left leg would swell (sometimes up to 4 inches larger around). This surgery has made me a new woman! It's nice to enjoy life again.

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I think it is the ovaries that cause you to have the migraines. Mine were not functioning like they were supposed to. Got everything out, and no migraines! I was having migraines 2-3 weeks out of the month, and was just treating them, not fixing the problem.
My doctor explained that the week before my period, there is a huge drop in estrogen, which caused the migraines. Now I am on the Climara patch, with a steady dose of estrogen, and no migraines!

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I had terrible menstral-migraines I used to have to take Imitrex which only helped somewhat to deaden the pain. Since my hyst, I've only had one migraine. It's been great not having them every month!!!! I did have my ovaries removed, so I don't know how much that has to do with it. I agree that the estrogen has something to do with it. What does your doctor have to say? Just for your info, I am on the vivelle estrogen patch and certainly don't have the ups & downs that I had before!!! :marble:
If your headaches are just bad but not actual migraines, then hopefully they will get better after your surgery. I know it's hard to realize now, but you really will feel soooo much better!!!! It takes time, be patient and best to you!! :smilie5: zanylynn

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
Hello ladies! I was so happy to read all these messages about migraines! I have been suffering for years with them and now have been suffering low back pain for almost two years. Mr. Dr. had me go for various procedures with a try with Lupron...NOT...that increased the migraines. So in November he said that a TAH wld be my last resort. He said that this procedure shld help with everything since everything else did not! Its encouraging to read that it has helped you all !

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I used to get a migraine every month during my cycle. My brain would shut down for about 3 days each month.
I had a LAVH on Dec 2 for adenomyosis and recttocele repair. I have not had a migraine since then. I am truly hoping that I will never have another hormone one. I have wondered because I still have ovaries if I may get them.

migraine help with my hysterectomy?
I, too, had horrible headaches related to the period. Two years ago, I had a total hyster and no more migraines! I can't take hormones either, and I am just fine.
