Surgery for me tomorrow!

Tomorrow is my surgery. I have so many emotions from wanting to get this over with and wondering what kind of pain I wil experience. I was given a betadine douche to use tomorrow morning before I go into surgery and a fleet enema to use tonight.
My doctor said I will not eat the first day and I'm kind of stressing about that for some reason. She also told me I will have a catheter for the first 24 hours, bummer!
I will pray for everyone going into surgery. I know I have some sisters going into surgery tomorrow also. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as I go into surgery! See you all on the other side! Jan

Surgery for me tomorrow!

Good luck on your surgery! I couldn't eat anything but liquids until I 'passed gas'. Not a big deal as I wasn't hungry anyway!

Surgery for me tomorrow!

Goodluck tomorrow Jan! I just celebrated my one year post op date and I can tell you that the waiting IS the hardest part...the wondering and worrying can drive you crazy! My doctor let me eat the day after surgery, but it was what they call a liquid diet, which basically was nothing good.

Just remember to take it easy when you get home and not over do, even when you think you are feeling better. Listen to your doctor, drink lots of fluids (it helps with those first bowel movements) and walk around inside the house when you feel up to it (that helps to pass the gas that alot of us have following surgery). Again goodluck tomorrow!

Surgery for me tomorrow!

i had my surgery 12/30- I Have not had any pain since the first day I came home. I have never felt better. The only problem I had is just the first day being home (1-1-06) and I had to time getting comfortable. I had some pain going to the bathroom, but they gave me a stool softner for that, and not a problem now. I have read ( this web page) and heard from so many people that they were in pain, miserable, tired, could not do anything etc-- I got my staples out the 4th day, and he said it looks great. I am healing better then he ever seen. The doctor said I hardly bled in surgery. The cathaer (sp) did hurt, and gave you pain at times, I didn't really stress over it. Believe me you will sleep the first day you are in your room, I didn't know my husband attemtped to feed me jello-
I wish you the best and hope you have just as good as luck as I did, and please let me know how you did.
My surgery last only 45 min, and I was in recovery for 20 and then in my room. -- Wish i would have it done sooner
Take care, I will say a prayer for you.
Have a great day
