Surgery Scheduled

I am very happy to have finally received my date for surgery. I was very calm up until a couple of weeks ago. Not sure what is causing it, but am now trying not to freak out. Is this normal behavior? I am usually such a strong person and now I just want to go into my bedroom and have a good cry (maybe the Lupron shots are taking over).

I just needed to say this and get it off my chest. It helps to have sisters who have gone (or about to go through) the same thing.

Thanks for letting me vent.

I feel the same way! Yes I think it is normal! My surgery is scheduled for 2-1-06 and I am scared to death and hope that this is a good thing! I am a very strong person but just reading your message brought tears to my eyes! I wish you the best and keep in contact---when is your surgery?

Hi, Best wishes to you! Yep... whats going on is completely normal. I was completely calm until the hospital called me and gave me my date. Ever since I have been overwhelmed... tired of waiting, scared, and on the other hand so glad to be getting this over with. What an emotional roller coaster. Take care! Melanie

Take heart, ladies! This is extremely normal. I was great until the doctor came to get me for the surgery. I told her that I wasn't sure about this. She just said, "I'll see you on the other side!" When I woke up in recovery, the first thing I noticed was no more back pain!!!! Everyday since the surgery I have felt better and better and you will too. Just think, no more embarrassing moments, cramps, pads, etc. In you life will be freedom and pretty panties!!!! Hugs to all!

Only32Yikes

We have the same surgery dated. Good luck to you. Like the others I am nervous and scared. My saving grace is the confidence I have in my surgeon. He has explained everything to me before I can even ask the questions. He seems to know exactly what my apprehensions and anxieties are. I am having a TVH if all goes as expected.

Thanks to all. It feels good to know that I have company. My date is February 3. My surgeon has been great. He answered every question that I had and never made me feel that I was asking a dumb question and actually complimented me on my research. I definitely plugged Hystersisters so that his other patients will find this site helpful.

I will keep everyone posted!

Thanks agin.

I also know what you mean. I keep telling myself that I will be fine and that I am doing this for me and my family. I know this is the right choice. So why am I moody, emotional, easily stressed, and sometimes neurotic about researching the subject? My guess is it has to be normal. Good luck!

It does help a LOT to know that others out there are feeling the same feelings!! I had my pre-op appt. with my dr. on Monday & I told her how I was feeling & she said it was absolutely NORMAL to be feeling ALL of those feelings!! I'll just be glad when it's over and done with. Everyone keeps saying that the hardest part is the "waiting" & I'm sure that's probably true. I went to the hospital today for the pre-op lab work & just being in the building and thinking about next Monday.... it just gave me the creeps!! I HATE being "scared" about anything.... and I don't think I've ever been as scared about anything as this!! My faith is very very strong & I am trying hard to draw strength and comfort from it.... but still...... this is hard!! It just helps to know that my feelings are so normal.
