my kids think i am being neroutic!!

I need to know if this is right, i am due to go into hospital tomorrow and have the operation on the 13th but i can't stop crying and my kids think i am being neroutic, even my husband i think is sick of hearing about it, I am spending lots of time sleeping so that i don't upset anyone, now i have been told that my eldest boy doesn't want to come and visit me in the hospital and that set me of again, i feal sisters like i am going mad. And to top it all of my husband isnt taking me into hospital he is actually going to work, which i will admit when we talked about it i said was fine go and work but now the date is near i regret what i said.

Does anyone have any tips on how to calm down and relax before i go tomorrow.

The fear you are feeling is completely normal, so you are not crazy. Unfortunately your family has no idea what you are going through and what you will be going through after the surgery. Perhaps their behavior is fear based too -- fear of the unknown. I know its easy to say, but take comfort in the fact that all of us your sisters have been through this and will be there for you on the other side. Don't expect your family to read your mind about what you want or need -- tell them directly. If you need your husband to take you to the hospital, ask him. Thoughts, prayers and hugs go with you.

i did ask him and he took me by surprise and that he had already booked the day of work because he knew that this was going to happen and he also told me of for being a marter, and he said that i shouldn't feal that i am alone because i am not and now having sat down and talk to him he has put my mind at ease just a little bit, i know that when i get to the hospital tomorrow that i will be ok because i dont know if anyone else is that same but its the build up of the waiting and not knowing what to do and what not to do.

Glad you talked to your husband and you feel a little more at ease. It will all be okay. Let us know how you are when you get out of the hospital. We're here to answer questions and make sure you ask your doctor and nurses everything you need to know to feel more comfortable, let your husband hear the answers too so he knows what to expect. Try to relax as best you can tonight. May peace be in your heart tonight, through your surgery and recovery.

Thinking of you

I'm glad your husband will be with you before you go in for surgery. That was the longest two hours ... just his company was so appreciated. It gave me someone to talk to about other things before I went in and when the surgeon assistant and anethesiologist came in and talked to me he was there to hear what I missed. Everytime someone would come tell me some new info. as soon as they left I would ask him if I heard what they said correctly!!

I have 3 sons and one of them (the 16 year old)was not too keen on coming to visit me at the hospital. I really didn't mind-I knew he still loved me!! I asked him why he didn't want to come and he told me if I was having almost any other surgery done he wouldn't mind but since I was getting "woman stuff" done it made him uncomfortable! I told him I understood and that it was fine. As it turned out he came by on my second day with a huge flower arrangement!! I overheard my younger son say later on that he almost lost it when he saw my catheter bag on the floor -- I wish I had known it was in full view as I'm sure none of my visitors enjoyed that and I could have thrown a towel or something over it!! I am blessed!

Good luck to you--try not to worry too much--it'll all be over soon!

my kids think i am being neroutic!!

Sending calming thoughts your way for a good night's tonight and successful surgery tomorrow.

Just in case you check in once more..... my favorite calming technique is to soak my feet in warm water (with bath salts) and then to rub them with my favorite lotion. Couple that with a cup of Sleepy Time tea and I'm off to dreamland in no time!
