Another test, Another possible situation??

Tuesday I am going to the Dr. for a test to check my problem with incontinence. My Lsh is scheduled for January 19th, and I mentioned that I had this problem to my Dr. now I have to have some kind of test, so that if something needs to be done it will be fixed at the same time as the LSH. I don't know what kind of test they will perform, nor do I know, how they will fix this problem, and if they can???? Very confused. Surgery was scheduled for this Friday, but Tuesday I was supposed to go in for this incontinence test, but my luck I got my period, so they had to reschedule my surgery....ARGH, and now her I sit and wait to find out what I could be dealing with......I keep hearing about tacks, and slings, I saw the word sling on my paperwork, some sort of Cyt(can't read dr.'s handwriting), but I am definately a bit worried about this additional surgery(would that be a correct way to think of this, as additional surgery), They are only removing my uterus......Any answers here would be most appreciative....My incontinence is so bad that once I was just standing and talking to a friend and all of a sudden it was running down my legs...didn't even know I had to go.....Didn't mean to give to much information, but ...........This part has me more worried than the original LSH surgery....

Thanks,
Mary

Another test, Another possible situation??

Hi Mary,

I am a Mary too!!

I had bladder incontience in pre-op due to two large fibroids. My 1st Dr. wanted to a do a TAH with a bladder sling. My 2nd Dr. wanted to do a LSH and he thought no bladder sling, since he thought my two large fibroids were pressing on my bladder. For me, that was true. My bladder works great today.

Going to the Dr. and getting a report on your bladder might alleviate any considerations your hyst Dr. has going into surgery. From your bladder story, it sounds like your Dr. just wants to have all the bases covered and he is looking to your long term recovery in post-op.

On another note, from what I know of the LSH surgery, my Dr. felt keeping the cervix helps provide future pelvic support - even for the bladder. For me, I know that has been true.

Best wishes,

Mary

Another test, Another possible situation??

Good thing you got a second opinion! I also had incontinence, but mine was because my uterus was pressing on it (was large). The incontinence is gone now and my cervix was removed. I'm used to working out though, and my abdominal floor is strong.
