Surgery 1/16 Doc says two and a half hours!

I had "only" a TAH BSO, no repairs and it took three hours. I didn't wake up from anesthesia for 24 hours, but that's me. Everyone's different.

Surgery 1/16 Doc says two and a half hours!

The time frame you all are quoting sounds exactly right. My mom works in the surgical department at a major hospital here in PDX and she has been asking around. Great suggestion about the cocktail. I've had a couple surgeries where I've had general anesthesia and only had a problem with the nausea once. I DO NOT like to wake up however! I'm really jealous of all you sisters having the surgery on the 16th.... I have to wait until the 31st and I am getting a little wiggy already although I am no where near ready. My house needs to be cleaned, people need to be trained at work and I need to have a really big party!

Thanks, Raymo! I like the idea of the cocktail for nausea. I'm going to ask about that for sure. I want to wake up feeling as good as possible. The 16th is going to be a new day for a new me (us)!

Mine was a little over 4 hours, but I knew that going in. I woke up within 20 minutes of being in recovery but was totally awake by the time I got to my room. I dozed on and off all night (even when company was there and mid-sentence) but felt great the next morning.

Better for them to over-estimate so your family isn't worried than to say it'll be an hour and you're in for 3!

Surgery 1/16 Doc says two and a half hours!

Hello y'all! My surgery isn't til 1 pm which kinda bums me out, considering that you can't eat anything after midnight (night before) and I suffer from migraines. Hunger pangs and migraines do not go hand in hand. My doc told me that if I decided to keep my cervix, it would be a SAH BSO instead of a TAH BSO...which saves her about 35 mins... but I just want her to do a detailed check of my internal organs, making sure there's no endo anywhere and take her time and do it right.
I've already communicated to the anesthesiologist about my NEED for nausea meds....i should be set. We are all in God's hands.
