Overactive bladder and bowels 6 days post op

I underwent a total laparoscopic hysterectomy, BSO, and endometrial excision this past Tuesday, 4-10-01. I am not having much trouble with the 3 small incisions and can get around o.k. with the exception of 2 problems: My bowels are angry; yes, angry. That is the only word for it. Anytime I eat, I have to go to the bathroom immediately and it is very painful. This is happening at least 5 times a day. I am afraid to eat now. I also have a pain in my bladder area. It feels like it is cramping or having spasms, I also have pain in my lower back and a 100 degree fever. I am beginning to wonder if I have a u.t.i. from the catheter. I am going to call me doctor's office as soon as he is in today.

Has anyone else experienced this? What did you do to control it or alleviate the pain?

This website has been so helpful to me. Although I just registered today, I read it thoroughly before my surgery and many of my questions were answered by this site and some of my worries were lessened by it, too.

Thank you hystersisters!

Lynn,
I can't help you since I have had the opposite problem - I just now FINALLY had a BM. But what you write worries me. I had my LAVH on 4/10 and when I was discharged on Friday they told me if I had a fever over 100 degrees F to call Dr right away or go to ER.

Are you dehydrated as well? It sounds like you are on your way there.

Please call your Dr right away!!! If it is going to be a while before you can, go to the ER. You only have one chance to heal right!
Good luck!
