11 weeks post op pain

Hi All,

I'm 11 weeks post op, back to work part time, avoiding lifting as much as I can. I am suffering low abdominal pain I guess where it was all taken away, kept my ovaries but not my cervix. How long is it before I am pain free? I know lifting something too heavy makes it hurt more, but it hurts all the time like a dull ache.

Thanks Tracey

I wish I knew Howareweall,
I had a BAD day today, hurting so much and even my head isn't in it's right space.
It sure doesn't take much to set us back again I'm finding.
But then, tomorrow is another day!

I have no idea, i went back to work last week - full time - unfortunately... and have had such pains and swelly belly since, my doc. has put me on the sick for 2 more weeks, said I went back too early, rested for days but still got the pain - so I hugely overdid it. One day.............we will be pain free. x

Just wondering if you've spoken to your doctor about the pain. S/he may want to check you to see that there isn't something else going on.

I hope you feel better soon.

Hi Tracey

I was fully 3 months post-op before my lower ab discomfort left, but I think I had a little more taken out than you did. My GYN said it just depends on an individual's healing rate. I laid down every afternoon and took OTC meds and found that really helped me.

Check with your doc and see if he/she wants to check it out...

We had our surgery the same day and I still feel pain. Yesterday, I did the eliptical and my stomach was burning.. I had to put my hot pad on it for awhile. My doctor says if it's just burning that's ok. I guess it's just going to take awhile.. He says 6 months or more.

11 weeks post op pain

I'm 10 weeks post op with nothing left inside - they took everything from me. I feel great. Once in awhile though I get belly soreness cause I did too much that day. Doc told me that Even the slighest little twisting can cause pain. Was advised that it could take up to 6 months before that slight irritation in my abdominal wall to go away completely. Call your Doctor to get further advise and to make sure everything is OK.

I too have some pain. It feels like I did 1000 sit ups and my abs are sore. I still have shadow cramps from time to time too. Dr said this would be normal and would take awhile for the soreness to go away. If it is unbearable I would call your Dr.

Hope you get to feeling better!!

I've had a scan which didn't show anything concerning, doc says i'm healing fine and had swab taken incase got infection but all negative. My own doctor doesn't seem concerned just keeps saying it takes time.

Thanks Tracey

11 weeks post op pain

I had my surgery February 2005 and although the dull pain left in a few months I still "feel" it sometimes. Actually I just got back from a 3 week safari and all the bouncing around in a land cruiser has made me sore!

My Dr says it can take some women up to a year to fully recover.
