MT, take a hot bath or read a book...that might help you fall asleep. How long do you expect to be in the hospital?

Starting to freak a little

He says be prepeared to stay about 4 days because I am a diabetic and I had a lot of trouble with another abdominal surgery with a postop infection so he wants to make sure all is alright before he lets me go home. Having a TAH because my uterus w/fibroids is too large for anything else.

Skye & Shea,
Hang in there! It will all be over soon. You are right the waiting is the hardest part, have either of you had surgeries before?
It's great you have your church family to depend on, they help so much. My church family brought over dinner for a week after I returned home from the castle. My family loved it!
My prayers will be with you both for peace during this time, and strength to get you through it. Girls, it's almost over. Then you can be pampered!
Here for you for support or questions. Email [email protected]
So great to know we are all in this together, is'nt it?

Starting to freak a little

HI Liza...OMG yes I have had MANY surgeries before. I had a breast reduction in 1998 and a lymph node removed from my neck in 2002 and in Oct-Nov. of 2004, I have a total of 5 (YES 5!) surgeries for kidney stones. I had MANY complications from the stones so within 5 weeks, I had 5 surgeries. Then, this last August, I had a D&C, ablation, and laparoscopy....I am no stranger to surgery. I think thats part of the reason I am so scared...how many times can a person be put under anesthesia? I know MANY people have to undergo MANY more surgeries than I have ever had but still....I always need the Versed (the happy, who gives a crap that you are cutting me open drug) as they wheel me down to the OR. haha.

I don't have a church that I belong to but I do have a super close family and I know I will be getting all the help I need. My kids and hub have been GREAT throughout all of this, and to tell you the truth, they are probably excited for me to have a hysterectomy...maybe I can get back to being ME again soon.

I see you just had surgery a few weeks ago. How are you feeling? Did you have a good experience? My email is [email protected].

Thanks

Shea

Starting to freak a little

Thanks to all who have shared their stories. I thought I was going out of my mind with all the pent up emotions, but after joining this group, I have a better understanding of what to expect and how to take care of myself. I'm still very concerned about having this procedure on 2/10/06, but after 2 years I've finally made the decision to have a quality pain free life. This whole process has been an awaking moment. I'm still dealing with some concerns, but on the overall, I feel things are going to work out for my good.

DX: Huge fibroids, heavy bleeding with clots and anemia

Peaches,
You have the same thing I did. Once this is all behind you, you will not miss the troubles that our periods brought to you. It is really a welcoming feeling to not have to plan things around them anymore!

Peaches

Honda 61,

Thanks for responding to my concerns. I see you just had sugery a few weeks ago and I hope you are feeling much better. How are you doing? How was recovery for you and how long will you need to stay off your feet? I'm cramping so bad today and my period started. I feel miserable. I have concerns about my hub coming through the process. I'm going to ask him to start reading some of the article to give him some insite on what's about to happen in a few weeks. Still very nervous, but trying hard to be strong.
