Silver nitrate on vaginal cuff at 6 wks post-op

I went in yesterday for my 6 week post-op visit. Everything was looking good! Thank God! But, he said he needed to use some silver nitrate around my vaginal cuff. He did. I've been having some cramping since then but from the replies I've seen on this board, that seems to be the norm. My doctor then told me that I should wait another 2 weeks before having sex. I told him that I was disappointed because my DH & I are going out of town this weekend to celebrate our 4th anniversary & were excited because my 6 week check-up fell before our beloved trip...i.e., we'd get to have sex!!!! So then, he told me that if I was comfortable with it I could. So, now I'm conflicted. I'm DYING to have sex again. I think it's been forever and a day since we've done "it". Has anyone had experience with having sex after having the silver nitrate done? Thanks!

My doctor told be on "pelvic rest" for 3-4 days after using silver nitrate for a piece of internal scar tissue causing problems. I had a bit of cramping the first day, but felt fine the following.

Chrissy, have lived thru the silver nitrate experience. Don't know about you, but it took my doc over twenty
minutes to remove all of the scar tissue (it filled quite a large surgical bowl). Anyway, it was mighty painful
for me and took me about two weeks to recover from entirely. Sex wasn't an option for me, but I'd tell you
to follow your doc's advice. If you feel like you want to give it a try, go slowly and then you can call it off if
necessary. For my doc, he was also concerned about infection since I was spotting/bleeding a bit and he had
to use a coagulator to stop the bleeding.

I got a silver nitrate tx today at my six week check up but apparently my problems weren't that bad b/c he didn't restrict my activity.. just told me to "go slow" with sex b/c I might be tender. I plan to attack my SO tonight as soon as he comes home so I will let you know how it goes!

Ok...I probably sound dumb but what is a vaginal cuff and why put silver nitrate on it?
