Post Op Lymphocele

Hi there,

Last Nov. I had ultra sound and a fluid filled mass was found, I then had CT Scan and they said the same, but it was representative of an ovary with folicloes - but my ovaries have been removed.

Today I have the results of a follow-up Ultra Sound I ahd earlier in the week. This time they have ruled out several previous assumptions and said that it very likely to be LYMPHOCELE !!

They are apparently occur after surgery - has anyone had this and if so what was done. It does cause me some discomfort and pain on my right side, especially after physical activity such as lifting, lugging and even walking for long periods mof time.

Hope someone can help me understand this more.

Thanks

Tone xx

Post Op Lymphocele

Hi Tone
I picked up a MRI I had done the end of November. It was my lumbar spine and cervical neck. I read where there was a small collection of fluid on the right side.(in the general area of the L5 as far as how far up it is.) It said it could be a small lymphocele and unlikely due to the ovary. I had a cat scan 1 1/2 years ago that showed a small amount of free fluid on the right side and it also said likely due to a cyst on the ovary popping. I also has a lapro this last Sept where there was a small collection of urine on the right side of my cul-de-sac. The uro/gyn also found a small stone on the right pelvic wall in the area the urine was found. No doctor seems concerned, but I am. I have had pain in my lower abdoman since my hyst in May 2004.
Do you have a almost ripping, terrible deep down pain sometimes when you are getting up or stretching in the area of your suspected lymphocele? I sure do.My abdoman feels like it is holding alot of fluids and it gurgles alot, which makes me gassy. I feel bloated and just down right miserable.I never felt this way before my TAH. Are you going for more tests and if so what are they? What kind of Dr. did you go to. I am thinking of going back to the gastro dr.(he is also a internist) who did my colonoscopy and also diagnosed me with IBS. I went to a adhesion dr. after he diagnosed me with that and found out my GB was very inflamed and covered in adhesions. I had it removed.
I am not sure where to go, but I do know I need to get feeling better. I cannot return to work from my back surgery (been off for over 5 months now)feeling like this. This may be 2 different issues I am dealing with, but hopefully the gastro can help me out and do some tests which may reveal what is going on in my abdoman.
I sent a letter to my Gyn and also included the mri, old cat scan and my uro/gyn's surgery report. I highlited the parts about the pelvic fluid.I hope to hear from them soon.
Do you have any idea what they do for a lymphocele? It looks like we are both in the same boat about this situation. If I hear anything from my Gyn I'll let you know what he has to say about it.
Peggy
